Firefight- Likely or a pipe dream?

It’s no secret we want firefight. But is there any evidence they’ll actually put it in?

Don’t get me wrong, I hate being pessimistic if I can help it, but at best it’ll probably be added years into the game assuming it survives that long.

And at worst it’s not even at the bottom of the to-do list.

I haven’t heard much about it so has anyone heard anything through the grape vine or just have opinions/comments on the matter?

Honestly, dont know. Nothing mentioned in their Roadmap. Warzone and Firefight are very needed to bring back people to infinite.

I don’t have any proof or anything but I think Firefight will be added at some point. It should have been added at launch, Season 2 at latest. It’s a great mode to jump into when the competitive grind becomes boring. It adds a different variety of gameplay and honestly, it can be a great training program for new players. Not to mention it is truly a social game type where high and low skilled players can play together without worry of losing rank or some global hidden MMR bullcrap. The thing is I have no idea when Firefight will come to Infinite.

Right? When the MCC came out for PC and I got to play Halo for the first time (in this case, Reach) when I wasn’t playing the campaign I got on Firefight to get a feel for things.

Plus in a game where we’re supposed to get attached to our Spartans (despite lackluster customization) Firefight seems like a literal perfect fit.

They could even debut it the same way they did with Last Spartan Standing- ideally with more than one map obviously but still such an addition would definitely warrant a narrative event.

I very much want this to be added. What is the best way to let 343 know this is something we want?

I would have made Firefight-like missions almost like Strikes from the game Destiny, where you and three other players would traverse walled off sections of Zeta completing the mission and running into issues, etc. Periodically hitting checkpoints like hidden camps or ammo stashes or FOBs. Getting head shots and less deaths, medals, etc would give better player score after each checkpoint so the squad can see how well each of them have done. Obviously, the normal 8-player Firefight would remain as a playlist too and this would play out how it normally has in H5(minus the REQ system, that would have to be revamped).

They could use the smaller firefight missions to tell the multiplayer narrative a little better and also maybe even allow us to get glimpses into what’s going on in the other parts of the campaign story too. They really missed a lot of potential with Infinite, but now it’s a matter of waiting…

Probably talk about it CONSTANTLY until they take the hint, that way if they haven’t already they’ll get development started

This sounds REALLY cool, and I’d love it, but even if we just got OG Firefight I’d be happy.

But yeah I agree that Infinite had tons of potential as far as possibilities for game modes and interaction and now everything is on hold while they keep trying to fix the technical debt in the engine (I may have the terminology wrong for the record) and add the rest of the stuff that ideally would have been there at or at least near launch.

Kinda like how in DMC5 no one was mad about The Bloody Palace not being there because we knew it would be soon and BAM- The Bloody Palace is added not too long after launch.

I’ve talked before about a nice mix of firefight and Spartan ops called Fire ops that would have the option to play a custom or live map.

Either or there are 2 game modes.

FireOps Recon: would see a team of 4-8 players in large cell like areas (because we love zeta but adding more zones would be great as the game evolves!) With 4 objectives to tackle growing the modes difficulty with either skull modifiers or outright lvl. Mode is completed one of 3 ways. Death. Obviously. Extraction at FOB between objectives. And Storming the enemy fortress and slaying the boss. Obviously a win.

FireOps Strike: 4-8 players storm a legendary or mythic fortress with random skull modifiers (weekends could add a LASO mode).

All modes could be played privately. And honestly I think something like this would be very likely; Especially if we can place ai in forge, it’s likely they wouldnt add a classic fire fight mode as you could design one yourself.

That being said I’m not against classic modes at all. After awhile it feels a little stale, and a lack of extraction or boss fight win (thanks for spoiling me H5) has kinda left a taste for a way to roam with my Spartan and enjoy fighting Banished

Guaranteed, though we might get the inferior War Zone Firefight first.

I never got to try Warzone, what was it like?

I mean I would assume it’s not great based on your reaction but I’m curious nonetheless

War Zone FF was broken AF.

You had 5 rounds instead of 3 sets of 5 rounds.
Each round had an arbitrary goal to get to the next round and a time limit to advance forwards, with each round spawning the necessary enemies as you eliminated ones from the field…
For example -

  • Round 1 - Eliminate 100 Grunts
  • Round 2 - Eliminate 20 Promethean Knights
  • Round 3 - Eliminate 10 Ghost Riders
  • Round 4 - Eliminate 5 Zealot Banshees
  • Round 5 - Eliminate the Sub-Bosses and the Final Boss to win.

The problem was the fact that War Zone FF often had an error where it didn’t spawn the nessessary amount of enemies.
“Kill 100 Jackals to advance to Round 3”
*game proceeds to spawn ONLY 97 Jackals
“Oh no, you lose the match! Better luck next time.”

That won’t bring players back and neither will BR. They need to make their game not run like complete garbage first.

You know how wild it is that it’s almost coming to a year of release and desync is STILL a problem? Not to mention everyone being thrown into 150ms matches no matter where you are in the world because they decided instead of server selection, they’re just gonna force all players to play on a single predetermined location based on everyone who was matched.

Wow, that totally sucks butts. Like awful butts. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that quite frankly

It is odd how Halo Infinite feels like a game that was made by a small-time developer who had to scrape pennies in order to get servers.

And not like a triple-A studio owned by a multi-million dollar corporation that can easily throw the money needed to guarantee servers internationally.

It further supports the fact that 343 is mismanaging their resources and now they are feeling the full brunt of the consequences. I hope they fail to meet their quarterly this year. So much for your broader demographic.

If it was a small time developer, I’d actually be impressed they managed so much with so little.

But it’s not and this is passionately frustrating

My friend, have you seen Sonic Frontiers?
AAA Studios and games are a joke now.

I’ve touched on this before, but I could technically be considered the broader demographic since I got into Halo relatively recently.

You know what got me into Halo?

MCC being on PC since I didn’t have an Xbox.

A good Halo game is like fried chicken- it basically sells itself. I wish 343 would understand this.

Have you ever heard of Installation 01? A fan-made game being made by fans who wanted Halo but 343 instead made two abominations as Halo 4 and Halo 5?
