Firefight like moments in Spartan Ops?

When I watch Spartan Ops footage, there seems to be some sections of the missions that look like you have to have a standoff against Covenant or Promethean sentinels. This seems Firefight will somewhat in Spartan Ops, with holding a position, what do you think?

Frankie did say that Spartan Ops will scratch the itch that Firefight used to.
Spartan Ops is more like Firefight with a purpose, and not just killing enemies.

Yes there will be missions like firefight. The possibilities are endless, if they think of a new type of objective to put in Spartan Ops, they can. It’ll be much enjoyable than firefight because there is a story attached to it and it won’t be the boring same old objective all the time. It’ll be great.

saying that firefight was boring is stupid, now I personally never got into it myself (mostly due to lag) but I know very damn well that things that seem boring to a lot of people are indeed the most fun I’ve ever had in games.

take for instance gears of war 2’s horde mode. people did nothing but complain about how “boring” it was then in gears of war 3 they added fortifications, boss waves, money, etc. though these things weren’t necessarily bad, the way they were implemented however was and the horde mode became nothing but a reminder of how great it was in gears 2.

I’m not saying that spartan ops will be bad or anything but to say that firefight was boring and wasn’t all that enjoyable is a slap to the face for those (few) people that freakin loved it. a lot of people will say how much “better” the horde is in gears 3 than it was in gears 2 and how its not as “boring” as it used to be, however what they fail to realize is that for a lot of people (like me) that was what made the game so good and when they changed it into some sort of gimmicky version (and less challenging) version of the previous horde mode it left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

I’m betting that spartan ops will be a success, however to say its a successor is kind of an insult.

I always loved Firefight, I was so happy when I heard it was returning in Reach. I had played the heck out of it in Halo 3: ODST. It was pretty much the exact same in Reach, the maps weren’t as great as ODST’s either. It just got really boring, for me after a while.

However, in Spartan Ops there’ll be loads of different objectives and missions, as I said, some that will be the exact same as Firefight so people like you will be able to enjoy it as well and it won’t be repetitive because it’ll be a story campaign. I think it’ll be great.

“Majestic defend this area! We have Pelicans inbound!”

This would be awesome!

I definitely agree that spartan-ops is looking amazing, however saying that it’ll have missions that will offer the exact same experience that firefight offered is complete nonsense. spartan-ops may have something similiar but it definitely won’t be no firefight.

I really wish I could stop bringing this up but gears 3 had a horde mode similiar to gears 2’s horde mode but not the same.

like I said before, saying that spartan ops will be great is understandable but saying that it’ll be a legitimate replacement to firefight is not only inaccurate, its also in many ways an insult to people who actually loved firefight the way it was.

now do you understand what I’m trying to say?

Imo… Spartan ops is like firefight, just has a story and a point to play

> Imo… Spartan ops is like firefight, just has a story and a point to play

just forget I ever said anything…

So fighting waves, upon waves of enemies in a particular area isn’t firefight? There’s going to be plenty of Spartan Ops missions, there will be something that plays exactly like firefight. It won’t go on forever, like firefight, but will be similar or unnoticeably different. And then of course, there will be missions completely different than firefight.

yeah and gears 3’s horde sounds the same aswell. you kill wave after wave of the locust horde…

like I said it might be SIMILIAR but it won’t be the SAME.

gears 3’s horde mode was at its core the exact same thing that gears 2’s was, however it didn’t play anything like it did in gears 2.

now I’m not someone that plays firefight regularly, however its pretty safe to say even if the mission was pretty much the same thing as it was in firefight (defend location from enemy) that it won’t play anything like it did in halo 3:ODST/halo:reach.
perks/(completely) customizable loadouts/prometheans (that may be fighting alongside/or against coveys) and other things will mean it won’t play like it did previously.

your implying that spartan ops is (in certain missions) a replacement for firefight… what I’m trying to say is that yeah it may be somewhat like it was in reach, but it won’t really be the same.

btw I know some of you might not like me bringing up gears of war’s horde mode but if you actually think about it they pretty much got the idea from gears in the first place.
