Firefight in Infinite ?

Is it possible to get firefight in Halo infinite? If so, is it something that is necessary or can we manage without it?

Well it wasn’t in Halo 4 and nor was it in Halo 5: Guardians (I think) or Halo: The Master Chief Collection when Halo 3: ODST came out. I reckon we will see it eventually but not on release. It is most likely a mode that will be added later.

I think Halo Infinite absolutely needs to have Firefight on launch, moreso than Forge (although Forge should be there too). After Halo 4 was released with it’s new Spartan Ops mode, fans were deeply upset that it replaced Firefight considering how bad the new mode was.

When the MCC released 2 years later it initially didn’t have ODST so Firefight wasn’t really an option. About a year after when 343 added ODST to the MCC everyone was wondering where FF was because it was becoming a fan favourite mode where you could just switch your brain off and relax.

Then when Halo 5 came out in the same year, there was no FF for approximately 6 months! Firefight eventually came out as a subsidiary game mode of Warzone half way through 2016, and it just wasn’t acceptable. It shouldn’t be called FireFight anymore due to how differently it plays.

I really disagree with this whole statement about adding it later as 343 get a whole lot of flak about adding things later especially when it’s FF. FF should be there at launch, I reckon moreso than Forge (like I said above)

I’m just saying that it’s likely to happen following 343i’s track record of the game mode.

There is Firefight in Halo 5.

I think I would genuinely rather have no Firefight mode at all than have Warzone Firefight return. I’m 99% certain it won’t, I think 343 have caught onto the fact that the fanbase almost unanimously despises the paid single-use weapons system, but God what an absolute joke of a mode that was. Getting rid of custom firefight, forcing you to play online with seven other people, the oversized maps, the bullet sponge enemies, the infuriatingly long respawn times, the fact that it was blatantly pay-to-win. It feels like it was made with the sole intent of retroactivally making Spartan Ops seem like a ‘true’ firefight mode in comparison. And making money of course.

I know. I said “Nor was it”, not “Nor is it”. Meaning the game didn’t have it on its release.

If they want Halo: Infinite to last 10 years as a Live Service game it will need a LOT of content. So Firefight would go a long way to increasing Halo: Infinite’s lifespan.

Warzone firefight, spartan ops, firefight classic… There are many game modes to introduce in Halo Infinite. I hope to see all of them for variety and content.

Possible depending on how big the team is that’s going to be supporting Halo: Infinite for the long term.

I’ve heard there’s currently 1200 people working on Halo: Infinite development; give or take that number. But how many will continue to support it for the 10 years platform goal is the question.

I’m just hoping we can spawn AI enemies in Forge so we can create our own Firefight games

I think we need it. I believe it’s practically a staple of halo that shouldn’t be removed. And many like to play that when they want to grind exp but also relax. I have found many using fire fight in halo reach, halo 5, and reach mcc, to grind exp in a laid back setting. Even now many grind exp in 5 to get 152.

Plus in halo 3 odst it was very fun to play with friends.

I think it would be possible to switch it out for a new version of Spartan oops or a robust and expansive campaign. But I also think alot of people would complain that it’s not in the game or that it’s late to be added.

I’d be interested in a revamped Spartan Ops alongside FireFight.

This revamped Spartan Ops (imo) will need to:

  • be fun to play (as it’s important that it doesn’t feel like a chore to do) - have an interesting story (if it will have one this time round) - let us fight alongside Marines more often, and maybe ODSTs for the first time (as it wasn’t present in the previous Spartan Ops mode) - give us more vehicles missions more often - let us go to more places than just revisiting ones (but I think Open World will remove that problem). With that list provided above, I think most of the problems the previous Spartan Ops had, are eleviated. Of course this is very subjective, so you may think that Halo 4’s Spartan Ops was fine or you may have different changes that you would want to make to it. All of that is 100% fine, and I welcome you to respond if that’s the case.

I would love a firefight mode. ODST firefight was one of my all time favorite modes. It was so simple and pure in its design and very challenging.

If they introdice IA in forge we can hope for custom firefight or even missions.

Adding a comment here as my vote for a firefight mode infinite. Preferably one based on limitless survival and increasing difficulty like ODST instead of hunting (H5) or arcade (Lots of reach)

edit: by limitless survival I mean, Limited lives, unlimited sets. It’s much more fun when you and your squad are seeing how far into firefight you can go from heroic or legendary to essentially LASO

Well generally I tend to count ‘Odst’ as proper firefight but they did have a variation of Firefight in Halo Reach, which is now imported into MCC, Halo 5 had something called ‘Warzone: Firefight’. I believe Halo 4 was the only modern Halo that didn’t have Firefight so I would guess that it’s more likely Halo Infinite will have it…even if it comes via ‘update’ later into Halo Infinite’s future since the game is supposed to last 10 years.

We need a flood firefight for once

I thought it had been confirmed.

It should be at launch and should actually play like the old firefight as a holdout mode not a bunch of bullet sponge bosses. It should be a mode where you can just turn of your brain and chill or try to survive for as long and think of strats. More like ODST but include the customs options of Reach.
