Hello 343i,
If you happen to be reading this then I hope this helps.
I want firefight in halo 5 so much as well as a lot of others do too, but if you do bring back firefight then I think it needs to have some new options, I want to be able to have a short amount of time between rounds so that players can run towards some special type of building where you can buy things with the points that you make from killing enemies… Now this is where it gets interesting!
So I’ve been thinking of things that would make the firefight experience quite amazing using the things you can buy in game: Automated turrets that you can set up around the map, traps that you can plant anywhere, MARINES yes that’s right and ODST units that you can see falling out of the sky in their drop pods and you can tell them where to defend or follow you and if you eventually have enough points you can buy an expensive spartan which will help you a lot,and of course you should be able to buy any weapon or vehicle except mammoths.
And that’s about it for the buying thing, now there is another thing I thought about: How about an option to spawn enemies and allies in forge that give players the ability to create massive, long lasting open battles ( which would be even better with the flood… Hint hint).
Anyway, I hope the community and developers liked these ideas, goodbye for now

So like survival from MW3.

This…but I kinda had similar ideas. I like it though!
I was thinking more of Gears of War 3’s Horde mode as I read your post as I’m a huge fan of that. Get money for kills, build fortifications, upgrade them, it’s probably the best wave game type out there, for me anyway.
Though I’m not too sure if it suits Halo. It could if they added a lot more enemies to waves. Recently I’ve been getting the ODST firefight achievements and that game has difficult firefight even on normal difficulty. Whereas on Reach it was all pretty simple.
If firefight were to return they should revert to ODST’s game type which is quite the challenge, it really feels as if you’re being overwhelmed. Then these additions you suggested may be able to fit with that gameplay.
Though I would remove the vehicles, it would make things too easy, and the Spartan, maybe even that marine idea as that may make things easy.
How about just using big forge maps to be used in a firefight map thus allowing you to create firefight maps for your dreams. also set it as a game-type for forge so you can spawn in ai’s & all that. Just a concept i was thinking on. Or just have a forge firefight tab to forge in firefight maps.
I have been playing a lot of ODST Firefight (ODST FF) with my wife lately and we love it. To team up and see how far we can get and how many points we can earn is a lot of fun.
We prefer the ODST style for a couple of reasons. In Halo Reach FF, the power weapons turned FF into a turkey shoot.
And since the number of enemies (and therefor the points as well) are limited, everyone starts stealing kills and working less like a team and more like selfish toddlers.
Reach FF also didn’t seem to get harder as the waves progressed. It really meant something when you reached a million points or reached round 4 in ODST. There was no sense of accomplishment in Reach. I remember taking a picture of my 4 million points after a 4 hour ODST play session and sending it to all my friends! I was superman!
I prefer working as a team, watching each other’s backs, and pushing forward as far as we can go. Here are some suggestions for Halo 5 Firefight.
- Infusing story with our Firefight. Spartan Ops tried to give a story to our arcade type missions. The only problem was that Spartan Ops turned more into another campaign. Imagine FF being a simulation (similar to Infinity Multplayer from Halo 4) where a team of Spartans run a ‘simulation’ of an historical ‘last holdout’ mission of an historical KIA spartan team. Sort of like simulating Custer’s Last Stand at Little Big Horn. An example could be the last Spartan Team holding off the invading Covenant on Reach. Players get a little historical perspective of the Halo universe and still get to fight against never ending hordes of ever increasingly difficult enemies until they are finally overwhelmed and die.- Forge-able FF maps. It’s not that hard. Do it. There have been many examples of dynamic AI being able to traverse unknown terrain. If the AI needs a path drawn out for them, Forgers could easily do it. Please!- Fortifications. Buying fortifications with earned points is an interesting idea. The entire point of my playing is to see how many points I can accumulate, so I would be very hesitant to spend them. One option is to have fortifications or power-weapons be earned through killing sprees or in-game accomplishments. Maybe even have them be time delayed like Titanfall’s titan drops. The longer you wait, the better the drop. Wait 1 minute, get ammo. Wait 5 minutes, get a sword. Wait 15 minutes, get a tank.Let me know your thoughts. My vote is for historical simulations of ‘last stand’ missions. How long can you last against the enemy?
An addition to FIREFIGHT that I would enjoy seeing is some sort of Flood alternative that is similar to Zombies on Call of Duty…
It would be fun to have a massive house/structure at the top of a hill with a forest full of trees at the bottom that the Flood keeps coming from.
The massive house/structure would have some destructible weak points that the Flood are constantly trying to break through.
Points can be spent on weapons, repairing, or opening up different sections of the house/structure… similar to COD.
I know I know I know… the last thing you want to hear is some sort of COD relation to Halo but I really think with some creativity that a Flood mode variation to Firefight with some specific maps catered to the Flood Mode can have some serious potential. Im sure 343 could figure out ways to make it completely unique and awesome.
What are your ideas of a Flood only mode variation to Firefight? What would you like the maps to look like?
