The idea basically boils down to a new squad based game play, mixed with elements found in most objective game types.
Players now spawn individually with a group of 4 AI support squad. For Spartans these would be basic Marines. These AI or Basic troops are only allowed to wield most Tier 1 weapons (AR, Magnum, Plasma Pistol, and Needlers). Killing the leader of the squad would cause the troops to go rogue and become weaker. After each wave you would gain back 1 additional troop member if you lost any in the previous wave. Basic troops can be upgraded due to Control Points (more on that later) to Advanced troops, ODSTs. Advanced troops take more damage, deal more damage, and can wield any type of weapon. Advanced troops can also be obtained by keeping any Basic troop alive for an entire set, however once these die they are replaced once again with Basic troops.
After each wave ammo and tier 1 weapon drops are given to each side, ammo however is limited to 1 restock per leader. After each set tier 2 weapons (shotguns, sniper riffles, rockets, ect.) are given and Tier 1 vehicles spawn (Warthogs, Mongooses, Ghosts)
In addition the game would now feature Control Points of some sort. Each Control Point requires some type of objective to be fulfilled to capture it. These can be as simple as a territories style stand at a point to a CTF style capture/replace the core. These objectives often put players in the heart of danger making them much more difficult to capture and often require a lot of teamwork to conquer. Basic troops cannot be counted towards these objectives. Advanced troops can not hold CTF or Assault style objective items. Once captured these Control Points can affect all of the team it was captured for. So for instance if an Elite captures a Control Point then all Elites receive the benefits. Each Control Point has unique affects. These affects can be anywhere from spawning a vehicle after each 2-3 waves to constant ammo resupplies, to being able to hold more troops in your squad. Enemies can shoot and destroy Control Points similar to the way they attack generators in Gen Defense game types. Once a Control point is lost there is no way to get it back.
Any thoughts?
