So I have been playing alot of firefight with my friends lately, not in matchmaking, but in custom firefight games with custom settings.
Me and my friends have been thinking, that how cool would firefight be in halo 4? And then I thought that a firefight DLC would be really cool with the new enemies and weapons.
Any thoughts?
EDIT: I really like Spartan Ops, but it’s like a co-op campaing more than a survival with waves.
Nah leave Firefight back in Reach. It was challenging and fun in ODST but i rather remember it for that instead of Arcadefight and let it die with dignity.
Of course, who says there won’t be wave based survival objectives in Ops? Hell there is an achievement for surviving a mission where enemy’s come at you in waves…

Firefight is not just Arcadefight, I hate it when people only refer to that, while you can customise it however you want and make it even harder than ODST’s Firefight.
I guess no one sees the potential for Firefight at all like seriously it can be absolutely amazing and 343i can do alot with it but no one can see past the abomination that is Reach firefight I guess.

That’s just custom games. A large part of the playerbase is playing Firefight Arcade or other sub variants like Fistfight or Rocket Fight. While there is nothing wrong with playing thedr modes, they lack the challenge ODST did.
So you can argue about the potential of Reach FF and you are probably right (no doubt you are about that) but that potential for something great is limited to customs and therefore wasted.
Plus if the option was there in lieu of Limited, Aracde fight would still be voted more often because it’s easy credits without really trying due to power weapons, modified stats and infinite lives. Hell, i got flamed once for voting Limited because i wanted a challenge >.>
Spartan Ops is superior. I don’t think anyone that is sane can argue that at this point. It’s much more more ambitious, that’s for certain.

And since when do you have matchmaking for ODST? You can’t even customise it…
It’s not the problem of the game, but the players choose to play easy games.
Of course Spartan Ops is way better, but this isn’t about which is better.
He hopes for DLC for Firefight, so that way they both exist.
I would like to see ODST style Firefight back, but I’ll pass on Reach’s Firefight. It was just too easy and not challenging at all. ODST Firefight was intense.
Firefight is not in Halo 4

Seriously, why can’t people just recognize that and leave it be? We now have Spartan Ops; which looks far better. Unlike Firefight, Spartan Ops actually has a narrative and a wider-range of objectives. It’s essentially like having a second campaign made just for you and your buddies.

Maybe some people don’t want to play to a narrative and just want to hold out against bots? The two modes are quite different in nature, sure Spartan Ops has its ups but it’s just not the same. I’m sure a lot of people would prefer just FF, I mean why can’t we have both?

I like having a “second campaing for me and my buddies”, but firefight is like a very customizable survival. Spartan Ops is like a linear style co-op campaing with variety of objectives in the same match/game.
I could pay something like 2400 ms points for a firefight DLC with 5-10 maps. That is because I love firefight with its customizable settings.

Because installing an entire game mode would be an exhausting and tiring procedure, especially so this late in development when the game has “gone gold” and is ready to ship. 343i just didn’t have the time to include both Spartan Ops and Firefight. I don’t think they can just release Firefight on DLC post release, and if they did, it would probably be more effort than it was worth.
I believe that they initially chose Spartan Ops over Firefight because it offers a wider-range of appeal and fits there desire to ‘intergrate canon into the multiplayer’ more. I personally think we should move on beyond Firefight. The effort it take to create is better reserved for more ambitious projects, in my own opinion. I see Spartan Ops as its successor.
If you’re are concerned about Spartan Ops having ‘survival’ and wave based mission then don’t worry. Spartan Ops consists of a multitude of different missions offering alternative game types.
It will still have your wave based, survival missions, theres even confirmation in the Halo 4 achievements of this and it will also have your search and destroy, capture, generator defence, etc.
This is basically why 343i evolved Firefight into Spartan Ops, it keeps what people loved about Firefight whilst giving it a hell of a lot more.

^ This is why I like Spartan Ops, and the reason why I would like to see firefight in Halo 4, because it is so customizable. I doubt that you can customize Spartan Ops’ settings.
From some of the early Spartan Ops details, it’s safe to assume that every once in a while we’ll be greeted to a traditional Firefight-esque holdout mission of some sort. Obviously these won’t be customizable, but it’s going to be a nice throwback and a good reminder of how innovation can still reach shooters… Even though Firefight isn’t even long gone I still miss it, but S-Ops is as good of a successor as we could’ve hoped for.
