I am hoping halo infinite is shipped with a firefight mode. It was a big mistake not having it in halo 4 and 5 at launch. My question is what firefight would you all prefer?
- Odst - Reach - Warzone firefightAlso what sort of changes and additions would you like?
I would like to see a mixture . For example a veto system on each map that’s either odst or reach with the addition of a Flood firefight mode .
Btw 343 this is unrelated to their thread but bring back invasion!
ODST firefight is essentially Reach firefight with less options, so I can’t see how you would prefer it other than exclusives to the ODST sandbox, like choppers and brute shots.
I have no preference as to which system should be in Infinite. I’d personally like it more if it was less…organized, like an endless horde of covenant emerging from the fog of war, your mission being to hold them off until air support and reinforcements arrive. I’d really get the feeling of fighting for my life if it was like that.
I hope Firefight comes to Halo: Infinite as well. I also hope that they have both Warzone Firefight and Custom Firefight. As for favourite Firefight? It’s a tie between Halo: Reach and Halo 5: Guardians. This is just my opinion though.
EDIT: I also hope that the idea for the option for booting players only for DELIBERATE betrayal (not accidental betrayal) comes in Halo Infinite.

Ehh, I can agree to an extent. I feel like the flood deserve their own survival mode separate from firefight. Something like zombies from COD and with flood based maps like High Charity or The Library.
It’d probably be too much to ask for but id like to see ODST/Reach style firefight & a Flood Survival mode coexist on Halo Infinite.
@OP, additional features i’d like to see is Character select. It would be cool playing as your favorite Halo character from any game in firefight. I’d like to see them as unlockables too so it has people playing firefight until they get enough credits or whatever to buy their favorite character.

I don’t know. I feel like Firefight is very Halo, whereas a Flood “zombie mode” isn’t really what I’d want from a Halo game. They could have map remixes for each ordinary map in Flood Firefight if you want it to feel different from ordinary Firefight.

Of course I don’t want it to be exactly like Zombies. All I’m sayin is there should be a horror survival mode SIMILAR to it. Without all the perks & mystery boxes ofc no one said literally flood “zombies mode”. And the flood is a perfect choice for that. Reach’s firefight(in matchmaking) was kind of easy to me in terms of surviving, so a survival mode where the flood horde gets stronger & bigger by the round would be something interesting to see in a Halo game.
EDIT: My bad, didn’t see that last part, but yes that would work for me too if they remixed some maps with flood variants in firefight.

I like the character select idea as opposed to voices. That would be pretty cool
I think what Firefight is missing is a sense of progression. Static maps like those in ODST and Reach tend to get stale very quickly and don’t really lend themselves to the strengths of Halo’s gameplay. What I’d like to see is something akin to Escalation or Zombies, but tuned to fit effectively within Halo’s sandbox;
- Players get energy for killing enemies (Banished, Created, etc.) - Players spend energy on standard weapons at Weapon Terminals, ammunition for said weapons at Ammo Terminals and on vehicle drops for the end of each round at Vehicle Pads. - Players can pool energy into larger terminals to activate sandbox interactions like bridges, doors, ramps, construction equipment, heavy explosives, etc. - Maps expand through interactions, opening up new areas with more opportunities, promoting exploration.
- Large Maps can be segmented and used as individual ‘Classic Firefight’ maps where the game plays effectively the same as ODST.
- ‘Terminus Firefight’ with the Flood could also be implemented as a reverse of the standard mode, where players lock off areas of the map and try to hold off the horde of infected.
- Arcade like variants and ‘vs’ modes would still be applicable and modifiable in Custom Firefight games, just like Reach. - Power weapons would be found on the map in weapon caches, and civilian vehicles would also be present on some maps.Putting the focus on exploration and survival would increase the tension in games, play to Halo’s strengths and allow for a much higher level of replay value than your traditional Firefight mode.
I vore reach instead of warzone.
My choices are ODST, Reach or Halo 5? I choose Mass Effect 3/Andromeda (multiplayer). I guess Halo 5 kinda does what I want – mission rounds – but it goes too far. Mass Effect 3 really got it right, and Andromeda didn’t drop the ball (on that front). Give me a Halo Firefight where 33%-50% of the rounds are not survival but instead missions that you must accomplish within a timeframe, and in which you are forced to navigate the map. The greatest bane of horde modes is that people figure out a winning strategy that applies to every round, resulting in samey gameplay. Randomizing and varying the experience enough that people can’t get cozy is the key.
What ME3/A has for it also is the RPG progression system and the customization therein. I also think there’s something to emulating the ME3/A class system’s impact on play, but I vehemently oppose RPG elements in Halo. Still, that did a lot to keep rounds fresh, since you could put down your krogan vanguard (headbutts for days) and switch to an asari adept (perpetual boom machine). Without traditional RPG elements, I dunno how they’d accomplish a similar capacity for varied play. Maybe some kinda ordnance drop pods?
