Now this is coming from someone that plays Arcade pretty much all the time now…
The way it’s currently set up, this is nothing more than a run and gun spam-a-thon. All too often I get into games and
people are dying 5+ times without a care in the world. I’m sorry, but this type of gameplay does not deserve credit rewards. If anything, this should be called the anti-firefight playlist because there is no survival aspect to this game at all. Campaign at least has consequences for your actions… everyone dies, they start from the last checkpoint and have to do it again. Seriously… I’ve been in games with players who are actually playing, that have died over 20 times. My deaths… zero. You want to convince me that they deserve approximately the same payout as me for playing like a mindless -Yoink!-?
I suggest firefight gets an update that gives each player an individual pool of lives. You start with 1 life. Each flawless wave earns you an additional life to a maximum of 3 lives.
This is not Halo… hell this is not any FPS I’ve ever played. In any other game type, if you die… the other team gains a point, your team loses a defender/attacker, etc… you hurt the team. In Firefight Arcade, there is no consequence. They may lose their kill streak bonus, but all they do is respawn and keep spamming away.
Please either remove this playlist, or fix it. This type of gameplay does not deserve credit payouts. If they want to play like that, then let them play like that in customs.
Cr have meaning now? People already accept ranks in Reach are meaningless and the Cr system failed. Trying to revive it after half the population are inheritors is a lost cause.
> Cr have meaning now? People already accept ranks in Reach are meaningless and the Cr system failed. Trying to revive it after half the population are inheritors is a lost cause.
Your post has less meaning than the credits. You fail to comprehend. The current ranking system is a joke, but it still has meaning. I’ll know that someone who is ranked as a General will have played a map enough times to know the layout of a map better than a warrant officer.
Anyways, my point about the credits has nothing to do with ranking. It has more to do with rewarding players for that type of gameplay.
Go cry about your broken ranking system elsewhere…

Remove a whole playlist because of its cR Payouts?
Sure, lets just go ahead and remove Firefight Doubles to, heck, Score Attack because it gives you 1.5k cR a game for killing grunts easily with a DMR.
If you want to see how this will turn out, switch on over to the FF Limited Playlist, see how low the population is? It’s because people dislike the survival aspect of Firefight, people want to level up fast, a majority do, heck I do.
Taking Firefight Arcade out is just going to hurt those who like leveling up fast, besides, why does it matter, at the end of the day, rank only means you play the game a lot, not how skilled you are, killing thousands of Covenant does not make me any better at Competitive playlists.

I comprehend fully. People have already gotten to max rank by blitzing FF arcade for 500 hours. That proves rank is meaningless. You don’t know if a general has a good knowledge of the map you’re playing. He could’ve ranked up by playing other maps, other gametypes, campaign or FF. My point is what’s the point of making this change when people have already reached inheritor by this meathod? Because you don’t know anyhting about a player based on rank and you won’t this change is made either. Oh and insults and general hostility aren’t tolerated on these forums, so I suggest you change your attitude.

And again… here you go on about the ranking system. This has ZERO to do with the ranking system and everything to do with changing the way people play. Comprehend… will you?

My comment on the ranking system was in response to your comment about how a general will know map layout, and why said comment was false. Comprehend…will you?

Seriously, you need to read, comprehend the message, and then post. Not see a thread title, skim it, and post thoughtlessly.
Score Attack has an actual limit on lives. You’d need to be a moron to reach it though. Doubles in it’s current state is a joke and waste of time.
Yes, people play Arcade because of the payout. Do you honestly think people will quit playing Reach because Arcade is removed? I think they’ll just move over to Limited because the payout can be the same if you last the entire game.
The point of this thread is to try to encourage playing the right way, and dissuade the crappy game behaviors. It has nothing to do with rank or having skill, but encouraging game behavior… teamwork… trying to survive… what real firefight is supposed to be. Heck, what a First Person Shooter is supposed to be.
Reach has a lot of cleaning up to do which a lot of it wont be changed because Halo 4 is going to consume up 343i team time up. Look at Reach like this; the game shows both pros and cons. In which 343i can see where Bungie went wrong and how to improve a new fresh game (HALO 4); this way they don’t make the same mistakes.
Now if 343i has two teams (one for Reach and one for HALO 4) then they will be able to polish Reach a little more. They already are trying with the TU Beta playlist which they have gotten plenty of feedback on. So we shall see what all happens with that.
But you have to realize that Reach has been out for 13 months (next friday). There really is no point in ripping through the coding and trying to make this game better. We have CEA coming out next month and that is a game they worked on. Mostly the multiplayer aspect since it just has a new graphics layer on top of the old version and they gave two player co-op.
Basically what I am trying to say is there is no point to trying to polish Reach completely. You cannot please everyone. Some will like the changes they make (if any) and others will not. I personally think Firefight is boring since you go against A.I. but that’s me.
I don’t see them making the change for this Firefight playlist. Sure people will use Firefight to level up, but ranking isn’t everything. I been playing Reach since launch and play mostly multiplayer and I just reached Eclipse two days ago. I am a average player. I have my good games and my bad games. Rank just means you play a lot, which I use to do until I got bored with Reach.

By the looks of it, you want people to play like mindless zombies and all act the same, who are you to control how people play the game THEY purchased with THEIR money.
I’ll just shorten that out considering you don’t like my long responses.

To survive you need skill. As for teamwork, that is rare to have when your randomly matched up with people on XBL. If you are with friends, than sure; teamwork may be more possible. Overall though it is about having fun. That’s why video games were made. Virtual entertainment. Now for what FPS is supposed to be has many answers since people see FPS meaning differently.

I disagree.
1.) Halo CEA may be coming out, but Matchmaking will still be through Reach. Essentially they still have until Halo 4 is released, so still around another year at least to iron out not only the game type, but player’s behavior.
2.) If they make changes to curb the way players play now, then there will be less whining about it when Halo 4 comes out. Better to make the change now and ease them into the way it should be in Halo 4, than give them the shock treatment like Reach gave most everyone.

While I agree, odds are… they won’t make a change like this… I don’t think that it’s too late to try and curb player’s behavior. I have never before witnessed such abysmal behavior in an online game… and I’ve been playing for over 15 years.
> I personally think Firefight is boring since you go against A.I. but that’s me.
To me, it’s no worse than playing campaign… only on one level. I much prefer to play Invasion, but the quitting was so bad in Matchmaking… that Firefight is the only playlist which you are least affected by quitters.
> By the looks of it, you want people to play like mindless zombies and all act the same, who are you to control how people play the game THEY purchased with THEIR money.
People can play like -yoinks- all they want… that’s what customs are for. When you play Matchmaking, there is a certain etiquette that is expected.
“Mindless zombies who all act the same” and try to survive as long as they can would be considerably better to play with than mindless -yoinks- that grief, spam rockets and fuel rods, and die repeatedly all game long.
> I’ll just shorten that out considering you don’t like my long responses.
I have no problem with long responses. It’s long responses that have no thought put into them that I have issues with… like posts made by mindless zombies.
You should stick to the “Why am I banned” thread. At least you put some thought and research into most of your posts there.

So dying makes you a -Yoink!-? You could try not being an elitist and realize that you just sound like some guy complaining about something that doesn’t affect you in the slightest. Play Limited if you want teammates that don’t die ever.

Yup, I’m clearly not putting thought into any of my posts in this topic, what thought is there to put into this?
A guy who wants to control the way people play and are rewarded in Halo, it has no positive or negative effect on you in the slightest manner so why do you take so much concern into it, rank mean nothing, credits mean nothing.
> So dying makes you a -Yoink!-? You could try not being an elitist and realize that you just sound like some guy complaining about something that doesn’t affect you in the slightest. Play Limited if you want teammates that don’t die ever.
Are you braindead or just stupid. Anything anyone does in Matchmaking affects everyone in the same Matchmaking playlist. If you join Firefight Arcade right now, you affect everyone in the hopper looking for a match right now. You affect who everyone else plays with, you affect how long the game lasts, you affect the cR payout… you affect a lot more than you realize. You obviously have not played much Limited. If you did, you’d realize that this plague of horrible gameplay has infected that playlist as well.
So please, refrain from making anymore posts in this thread until you actually know what you’re talking about and not just saying something idiotic for the sake of just reading your own post.

Like I said in my last post… everyone affects everyone else in their playlist.
Rank means nothing… to you.
Credits mean nothing… to you.
Halo Reach rank shows one’s dedication to playing this game. It’s not 100%, but it’s no less accurate than Halo 3’s equally flawed ranking system… even though Halo 3’s ranking system was supposed to show one’s skill. Both systems are flawed in their own way.
Again… how can I control how someone plays when they can do whatever they want to do in custom games?
Xbox LIVE by it’s very nature is a paid service in which there are rules and expectations. By paying for the service, one has certain expectations… of which, that people behave a certain way. It’s one way to behave like a moron amongst friends, but it’s etiquette that one should showing amongst strangers. Then again… that only adheres to people who were brought up to know the difference between right and wrong… and taught morals and common sense… something severely lacking in children today.

Chill out, guy. Honestly, no, I don’t play much Limited. I like Arcade because I’m not that great at Halo and it’s nice to not be penalized for dying as much as I know I do. Name calling isn’t really helping your point or anyone’s perception of your maturity, bro. What I’m saying is people not playing as well as you’d like them to isn’t breaching any kind of code. It’s just… not playing as well as you’d like them to. Do you still get to the end of your games? If you do, then you don’t have much to complain about.
I love Firefight Arcade and played it because I didn’t have to worry about being penalized. But you got your wish but you know what my friend and I made our own version of Firefight Arcade thank God Bungie didn’t take that right away. I miss Firefight Arcade and was hoping for a Firefight Arcade where you can play by yourself because sometimes I like to go it alone and not worry about -Yoink!- anyone off on how I’m not the best at survival. I played Firefight arcade to have fun!
