Firefight and Spartan Ops Combined

Spartan Ops didn’t have a very great reception while Firefight was well recieved. How about this; Have story-driven Spartan Ops missions, and at particular points there would be locations designed for use in Firefight mode and staving off waves of enemies. Maybe you stave off one or two waves in that location in Spartan Ops, and it would also appear in a separate Firefight playlist as its own sectioned-off map. There were a few locations in Halo 4 Spartan ops that I found would make a great Firefight map but was disappointed that we only stay in that location for one short fight before moving on. What are your thoughts?

I think there should be a Spartan ops but also a firefight. Firefight could also use Spartan ops maps/sections.

I could definitely see this work. Its an economical way for them to design environments to be used in multiple modes.

In Halo 3: ODST, all of the Firefight maps were present in the Campaign. In Halo 4, many of the Spartan Ops maps were recycled/modified from Campaign and multiplayer maps. I see no reason why 343i couldn’t utilize their assets for as many game modes as possible, given that the troublesome task of making sure AI run smoothly on the map will already be done if it is to exist in any of them (excluding multiplayer maps, unless they introduce bots).

My only problem with this is if the option to just play firefight is taken away then I’d rather have plain firefight than a secondary campaign with firefight segments.

A while ago I posted some ideas I had to improve SO if it were to come back. My number one and most important:

> I. My first idea involves the use of waves on missions. As you start the mission, you will be on Wave 1. Basically, you will be progressing through the waves if you eliminate all hostiles. But you will have objectives to complete. The longer you take to complete them, the harder the mission will become. To prevent players abusing this system by leaving the last enemy alive and completing the objectives, some ramdom waves will have to be completed in order to advance.

> Let’s say you reached a hill on wave 8 and your objective is wait for backup. Then wave 9 starts and you have to survive the wave in order to complete the objective.

Of course this wouldn’t mean SO and FF would be a single mode. Having the choice to play either of them is necessary.

I think there should be both spartan ops, and firefight.
