I think Grounded is pretty much impossible without boosting or shear dedication. Vehicular on the other hand, IMO, is pretty easy to get. Just remember turret kills count as vehicle kills, so even when you get stuck on a map with no vehicles you can get some registered vehicle kills.
If you have annivesary map then you cant go past using the warthog on Installation 04. Select a 2x Score Attack or Gruntpocalypse as the game type and you can pretty much mow down everything from that one point on the kill where you first spawn. Just drive it over the lip of the hill. About 6 feet to be exact. In the final wave on Score Attack just drive the Warthog to another location if the drop ship with the elites comes overhead otherwise stay put. Main things to watch out for are Fuel Rod grunts and Sticky throwing Elites and Brutes. they will stuff the Warthog pretty darn quick if you are not careful.
For your grounded commedation I would say shooting banshees in Sniper Attack on Installation 04 and Holdout is your best bet. On Installation 04 in the first grunt wave let them go up into the main structure and one of them will usually get on the turrent. If you shoot the turrent with the sniper rifle and not the grunt you will get a grounded commedation for that kill too. Space the game out so it runs for the full 15 mins. That should yield between 3 - 4 banshees on Holdout and the same with Installation 04 but if you can kill a grunt on the turrent that can give you up to 5 vehicle kills in one game. The amout of banshees i find is closely related to the drop pods as well. what i mean by that is the game seems to send you either a Banshees to shoot down or a drop pod with 4 specialists to kill. This like the perfectionist commedation are the 2 longest to get and require the most amount of effort.
Beachhead does yield some vehicle kills but the Rocket hog is slow. For your Grounded commendations you will only usually see one vehicle come out at the end if doing Score Attack games. I have seen up to seven Vehicles in 3 round Arcadefight games on this map but you also have 3 other players to compete with as well.
ive actually found that the rocket hog isnt that bad, you can spray an area and get multi kills with it, where the gat you have to watch that it doesnt over heat (ghost doesnt over heat)
they really should have thought these ones out more.
BeachHead, Installation 04, and Unearthed all have Hog’s to use for the Vehicular Comm. and it just takes time to get the 14k max Onyx.
Grounded takes 12k to max out, and all I can say about this one is…Sniper Attack on Holdout and Installation 04, would be your best bet for multiple kills in a single game, as NO other maps produce as many vehicle in a singles game. This includes the little Covie on the Turret glitch as well.
As in for the 2X Score Attack, BeachHead is the best bet, making sure you use a stick grenade on the Wraith and or Ghost, as not to kill the driver first and waste the Comm., as you can do this on Corvette, Unearthed, and Outpost as well, with the not too often Wraith/Ghost Drops they have from time to time.
Since FF Doubles is now removed from the playlist (big epic fail in my opinion!!) unless you have a lot of time to kill playing in FF Arcade and hoping to get the Grounded Comm, there really is now no better solution to the outrageous amount of kills one must get to max out these Comm’s. Heck…Even the Campaign had less kills to max out the Comm’s than FF had too, and there are Checkpoint Glitches all over the place to get those maxed out in no time flat.
Since there seems to a lot, and I do mean a lot of gamers out there that just play FF, 343 should have looked at reducing these amounts, when looking into removing and altering the playlist, as now they are even farther out of reach, and will take longer to obtain for those whom have been working on them.
I posted links to 5 gameplays in my file share. I also want to mention that 5-6 grounded points is the norm but you can get up to 7 points if you’re extremely lucky (6 banshees/1 turret)
2x score attack for vehicular. Use hogs or turrets to get them. It’s incredibly tedious but if you want it that badly good hunting! Grounded firefight arcade non NEP on maps like beachhead. It’s very hard to get all the vehicles due to other players in the game and it’s possible for an elite to hijack your ghost on that map too. With one ghost per round you can score an extra three vehicles if you do it right. Also if an enemy is using a turret - human turret - and you shoot the turret and it breaks off with or without killing the covvie it’ll count as a vehicle.
I have 100% commendations myself and since they took out FF Doubles best bet is to just do arcade and use sniper. That’s what 1 of my friends is doing and he has 11,000 grounded. When i did in doubles i got 14 grounded in 1 game that was the best way. Don’t do installation or holdout trust me.
I have FF commendations maxed out. Without FF doubles I would just give up as score attack isnt consistant enough. FF arcade if you can get 3 people to come on with you to avoid AFKers.
Beachhead is best if you all vote for FF limited. You will easily get over 15 grounded if your friends let you have vehicles. Limited is also good for Vehicular as if you can jack yourself a wraith the enemies are alot easier to kill in limited as its always dropships and not random spawns.
Also if playing Arcadefight on beachhead when Ultras get dropped off in drop pod get them to jack you ot of a ghost then blow them up
i think FF Limited is the best way to do since there is a drop ship every wave that comes on maps like beachead and glacier
ive done all my 5k grounded kills in 4 player co-op, didnt really try FF doubles that much for vehicles
some of the maps are random with what they give you, i played installation04 yesterday and only got 2 banshee’s but the next game gave me 9 ground killed (7 banshee’s and 2 covies on the turret)
same with beachead, i played a game yesterday and got 3 ghost kills for the hole game but the next game i ended up with 9 vehicle kills.
Holdout is also good with 3 to 6 banshee’s, just remember to take down the turret while the covies use it as it counts as a grounded kill.
i usually give the covies the spare ghost which they end up using which also counts as a good vehicle kill
To unlock Grounded the best choices are Arcadefight on either Holdout or Installation 04 (for them Banshees). Or the skill based route of Firefight Limited on Beachhead.
Firefight Limited on Beachhead spawns approx. 2.5x more Wraiths than Arcadefight or Score Attack modes because enemies drop in phantoms every single wave not just the first and last.
yeah but he thing is, no one wants limited, every one wants to do a FRG spam, i LOVED limited because it was actually a challenge, i hardly ever even went for the weapon drops, i just kept my DMR and AR.
i hope Halo 4 keeps the unlimited human weapon ammo stash/s would be nice for some thing like that for the covies too.
but yes, no one wants to play the challenge of it, worst part is that i tend to get the most points from both game types.
Vehicular is easy. Just use the mounted machine turrent. Use it on Grunts, Brutes, and Skirmishers. Don’t use it on Jackals because of their shield and the Elites because its take quite a few shots to take em down.
Grounded, do Sniper Attack on either Installation 4 or Holdout. 2 or 3 Banshees should appear. On 2x Score attack on Beachead, use the target locator on Wraiths and Ghost.
Yes you still get vehicular kills for unmounted turrets, even covy turrets dropped by leader brutes and elites.
I’ve been playing REACH online since this time last year.
I am an unabashed Fire Fight Junkie. Currently I have Onyx Max on everything except perfectionist and grounded. Both of which are only mid level silvers. Frankly, both remaining comms are unrealistic. I am finding that perfectionist is easier to get than grounded. Having played FF so much. The above advice on how to get more grounded kills is true. I had a goal of getting all FF comms maxed before Halo 4 arrived, and this is impossible, and I find this very disapointing. Obviously a Reach designer was either asleep or stoned when perfectionist and grounded numbers were set.
Vehiclular kills really are not hard at all. Frequent the Holdout mission, there are 3 turrets available. Pull the turrets off and hang out in the hallway where you initally spawn from for cover. As you move slower and are bait / chum for grenade -Yoink!- grunts & brutes. Corvette is another great level for this.
I used to farm 100-150 grounded points a day in Holdout score attack while I read a book. Some days I easily farmed over 200+ while I browsed reddit, watched youtube, downloaded podcasts and TV shows that I missed. You still have plenty of time to onyx grounded if you’re dedicated. Perfectionist is easily earned from playing Arcade on any map and staying alive but enemy vehicles are extremely rare on most firefight maps. The only way to consistently get the best map for vehicles now that doubles was removed is to farm Holdout in the score attack playlist. Installation 04 is great for banshee kills too but Holdout is far better because you don’t need to bother killing wave after wave of Covenant reinforcements.
Another thing you can do is EMP a Wraith (after popping the turret), hijack the front, melee it once, jump off then actually jump onto the top, aim down and shoot the Elite driver. You’ll now have a slightly damaged Wraith to get kills with.
The problem with this is that sometimes only one (sometimes not at all) appears during Score Attack in the final round and you will need to go into Matchmaking to get multiple rounds and drop ships that deliver them. The second problem is that sooo many players will immediately get jealous and will spam a Fuel Rod at you to destroy the Wraith.
You can do this on any level that has delivered Wraiths in them. Even the Covenant bridge level (although you’ll most likely die in 5 seconds due to the small area).
Just shoot the gunner off, EMP the Wraith and enter the turret position. The AI driver will immediately exit and you can gun him down with the plasma turret leaving you with a pristine Wraith. Boarding not only damages the vehicle needlessly but also leaves you completely exposed to direct fire because of the missing hatch. Enemies firing down at you, especially dropships can inflict massive damage if you take a direct hit through the exposed part of the Wraith.
This is some great information. I will try some of this out to complete my Halo Reach game. I stopped playing because I was stuck with achievements, maxed Armour and my commendations was taking sooooo long. But now I have something to look forward to. Thank You.
