Finishing the fights you start

Ah okay well using acronyms in that manner is quite confusing :stuck_out_tongue:

Or or or or…

Don’t be in a position where you can get killed.

That’s why that feature was good because it required you to think 10 steps ahead instead of 5

Or you could just not play, if you can’t handle it, but that would make your whole point moot, so…

So just stand still and never move, got it I’ll remember that tactic when i play a game with you.

No. I think power ups are ENOUGH. not that ALL variables should go away.

It’s that specifcally the repulsor, thrust and grapple addd movement abilities that are TOO MUCH for the formula. The power weapons and power ups do just fine

You can move around the map while also being mindful of where you place yourself. The better you place yourself the less you get killed.

Sooooo

Where do you draw the line of “Too much” then???

Naaa I’ll just never move if I see you on either side in a game.

I draw the line when people are flying across the map when everyone else can’t. AHEM the grapple

It’s got limited range you can’t fly from one side of the map to the other.

Here’s an Idea, learn to use it and how to counter it.

Sprinting in Halo 5 gives you WAY more speed compared to walking. In Halo Infinite, you barely go faster than just walking (roughly 8% I believe).

Plus, no shield recharge on sprinting also helped to balance out thrusting out of gunfights.

No shield recharge on sprinting in Halo Infinite is fine, as long as they balance that out with a faster sprint speed and default thruster ability to get out of gunfights. But the “no sprint” crowd will not like that, so it will probably never happen.

For one your wrong. It can most definitely fling more than half way across the map I’ve already done it.

I DO know how to use it. That’s why I’m against it. I see the power in it the everyone else here doesn’t. The grapple is the strongest thing in the game if used right and it should not be like candy litered all over the floor.

At the very least a grapple should be treated as a power up where it’s in the middle of the map only.

The thrust and repulsor have the same issues but in their own ways.

Have you done it IN RANKED Though? or was it campaign or social?

it doesn’t spawn like candy in a candy machine it’s quite limited in it’s spawning, and it has a cooldown too…

I’m sorry but all of that just sounds like bandaids to me. Fixing the problem would be to remove Sprint and add the thruster back as a permanent ability. Now that would be fun and interesting as well as functional because it’s already been tried in halo 5

Any increase in speed is important in halo. It could be 1% and still be a huge advantage if used right. The no shield recharge stopped you dead in your tracks no matter what. It rewarded those who valued each 25% sheild they were loosing.

That was the best and only way that Sprint could’ve worked in halo and it was in halo 5. Halo 5 is the ONLY time I defend Sprint because of that feature.

It’s actually one of the features many requested back in the Halo 5 beta days and even before that. And it’s the reason I got back into comepetive Halo solely because of that feature as well as the abilites being cool

I’m curious how no sprint and thrusters as a default ability would work in Halo. I’m not against it. Would be fun if we could try it out.

There was a playlist for it in halo 5 for a short time.

You were able to make tighter maps because you weren’t thrust sliding everywhere but you also had the fun factor of the thrust and it was fair because everyone had one.

so how do we use other abilities if we have thrust by default?

They would have to be treated as grande slot so you can cycle thru them

Or just don’t use them in ranked.

For M&K it is not difficult to have an extra keybind. For controller it will be more difficult since the amount of buttons is limited. The only thing I can think of is button combo’s. So for example A+X is thrust and B+Y is the other ability.

No let’s go back to this issue you mentioned about shield recharge not stopping during sprint. I’m assuming here this is off a 1v1 you just one (otherwise they could just clean you up for disengaging too late).

Shields take 4 or 5 seconds to recharge. If you need to join an encounter, you will not recharge shields, in HI or H5, unless the encounter is longer than that. So you need to be able to explain this scenario because it applies to both games but somehow is only a problem in infinite.

Uh… Huh… And thrust in h5… Doesn’t do this as well? Or am I missing something. The speed bump from sprint in HI is very marginal. Additionally, you aren’t at top speed right away, so you aren’t going to instantaneously disengage from the encounter - the enemy will have time to finish you off.
That’s almost completely the opposite of thruster where you move almost instantly, and quite far.

Requires a wind up period in your sprint. You aren’t using it as a get out of jail free card.
In h5 thrust can do the same, especially if combined with other actions.

More so for thrust. What’s your argument here?

More so for thrust. Why does this discussion only apply to + <10% sprint (which requires charge up) but not an instant (and massive) speed boost from thrust?

Not in the reactive “I’m dead in 1-2 shots, I need to sprint away”/get out of jail free way, unless you are in VERY low level play. Only in the “I’m planning not to commit to anything as I make this traversal” kind of way which isn’t your main point and should be the intended design anyways - rewarding well planned and executed traversal.

But that doesn’t matter, cos people just used their kewl new armor abilities to get away instead.
Also, in any Halo game, running away from fights you can’t win is commonplace, even Halo 5.

If you manage to get away, maybe the person shooting you should have shot better. Don’t make this an issue when it clearly never was one.

If you wanna know true “coward’s halo” go check out Reach. Everyone’s just Sprinting for cover the moment they get cross mapped. The extra special people use Armor Lock. The even more extra special people uses Camo and camps in buildings.
