Finishing the fights you start

For all the flaws Halo 5 had. 1 thing I feel they got right was disabling shield recharge while sprinting. This encouraged finishing what you started. Running away was a last ditch effort.

Infinites system encourages cowarding away as you run and recover health at the same time. I know this game doesn’t have the twitch gameplay as 5. But at the very least should have a penalty that increases the delay to recharge if your sprinting. Or better yet disable sprint recharge all together

To be fair, sprint isn’t really gonna save you in 90% of situations anyway, and if it does, it’s not because havign recharge is broken, it’s because the other person failed to kill you.

The difference between base movement and sprint for the 2 games is remarkably different. With the speed boost being so marginal you get from sprint +plus the time to max speed, it will rarely save you from death unless the enemy is VERY bad or you disengage right away.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

I’ve been complaining about this since day one and everyone goes like

" It’s the most balanced Sprint".

NO.

Halo 5s was. In the first week of playing infnite I would literally stop in my tracks the moment I tried to Sprint so my shields can recharge.

Now people are inclined to run away from everything and they don’t get punshied for rushing in a battle they shouldn’t be in

  1. The person chasing can sprint too so even if they disabled the sprint altogether it’ll be the same situation.

  2. Where do you draw the line? If I can’t recharge when sprinting but someone can when flying through the air grappling, flying up in the air repulsing, or thrusting? Then would that be fair? Imagine working out the time penalty for all the different recharge timers of all the possible equipment

Naaaaaa. I noticed the issues in the first week. No penalty for sprinting let’s bad players stick with their play instead of getting punshied for their play.

For example. Your one shot. Your team mate needs help but in halo 5 if you moved you’d be dead when you got there because your still one shot. This rewarded players who keep their sheilds up

See. Halo 5 had it right. Everyone had the same abilites so there was no pickups to have an advantage over the other. Plus the grapple and thrust will always outburst someone with no equipment so not having Sprint won’t make to much of a difference when the grapple guy will be flying around everywhere across half the map.

Sprint should be removed and replaced with a permanent thrust.

Or the thruster pack should come back.

Or remove Sprint.

ANYTHING. But what we have now. Nobody gets pusnshied for their bad plays anymore

How does this make sense. In which scenario does your team mate need help, but in more time than the 4-5 second shield recharge time, but less than the +8% it would take if you didn’t sprint there… Are you proposing that encounters last > 5s at anything more than bronze/silver level? (I’m just picking arbitrary levels, maybe even silver players don’t take that long to kill)

I’m not spending another 6 hours explaining to you why equipment is balanced. If you want that, go back and read the other thread from a few days ago.

You know when we were trying to enjoy H5 and people were saying it’s not halo and the previous halos were the most balanced, best etc and we were saying move on, you can do this, that and the other? Well every answer you give on every thread makes you sound like them but with H5.

Move on. I loved it too. This is infinite and works in a different way. I didn’t want H5 to be like H3. Infinite should not be H5 either. It’s balanced in a different way.

Believe me when I say infinite has problems and if you don’t believe me read my activity. I’ll tell them, don’t worry. But equipment is balanced and sprint with a 10% increase in speed is also balanced.

If we were playing real life chess and there was a special piece sitting in the middle of the board. From all angles every single piece would have a fair chance at it. The farthest piece will match the farthest piece and so on. These are the power ups.

Weapons are a different category. They have bullets. They don’t function like anything else in the game even if they are power weapons. Unless they make a repulsor gun or grapple gun then there is no weapon that gives you the ability to travel half way across the map.

What your suggesting is that we add more “special” pieces to the chess board. Now if you count the squares on the chess board the distances become farther apart. Now we get to spawning. When you spawn in you could be at any of 4 spawns and each of them point you in a different direction even slightly . So by nature it becomes random on who gets the closest distance to the “speical” item thats on the chess board. Right then and there. The game is already invalid. It hasn’t even started and it already started based on something that’s random. (Your reply might be. “What about the weapons?” and I say to you, re read the second paragraph above)

Now we get to drop upon death. It doesn’t matter what team is winning or how good someone is there will always be a spawn rotation where a equipment is picked up by a teammate who just died for making a bad play. The closer the battles are the more likely it is for someone pickup equipment off a dead body simply by spawning.

The thruster pack, repulsor, and grapple do not belong in competitive Halo as equipment. It’s either permanent abilites or no abilites . No in-between

what you call “cowarding away” could be simply repositioning or avoiding a losing battle, are you saying that I should just let the enemy kill me? Yeah that’ll work really well on slayer or CTF if I just stop playing and let the enemy kill me when I have the flag or I’m losing a fight in slayer, just because I sprinted…

It’s like I predicted your next message

Oh man. So many plays you could think of.

For one Sprint sliding will get you around the map more efficiently. Let’s not kid our selves here. You can be slippery if you do it right. Even that Little Sprint boost gets you over certain jumps easier.

Sprinting can get you out of many things. When you were one shot in halo 5 you were forced to walk and keep your pistol up. And it was a GOOD thing. You want people walking more. You want them To be focused on aiming. This feature punshied those who relied on Sprint to much.

i think so. Where for everybody being tactical and smart is part of your skillset, for AV it’s apparently a sign of weakness…

I’m literally arguing for a more fair chess board. On top of that I’m arguing for the Halo 2 formula which if your not for then idk why you play halo.

Less vairlebes = the more you can see who’s skill is better.

I’m not concerned if you can get a kill with anything but a single shot weapon in competitive Halo. Social idc if equipment is there.

I don’t want this game to turn into Spartans having their own abilites because I’m sure if you let 343 they would go that direction. You can already see the DNA of it when playing. Someone flying with a grapple here. Someone thrusting there. It just looks like a hero shooter.

I want competitive Halo to be raw with barely anything given to you and I want to be unforgiving. Not being able to clamber on Halo 3 gaurdain was HUGE. That type of skilled gameplay while also knowing where the weapons were and power ups WAS ENOUGH. Yeah we had the bubble sheild and what not. But you weren’t flying across the map with a grapple.

As I Halo fan I just can’t get behind any of that

Running away in any fashion even in halo 5 is not a good thing.

When you had to stop sprinting to shield up you had to fight in the area you put yourself in. Which is the fair way to go about it. You shouldn’t be able to slip away into a whole other area fully shielded

Yeah, because its better to hand a kill to the enemy and not stay alive…

AV?

Skill is not having less varibles, Skill is working with multiple variables to be the better fighter, not throw away everything because “Oh it’s cowardly” “Oh it’s cheap.” outside of outright cheating no tactic is out of play.

Are you telling me that i should ignore power weapons because I think they are OP? are you telling me i shouldn’t sprint to get to the flag faster to get it or to return it, because it’;s cowardly?"

I like to refer to Red vs Blue. “IT"S A LEGITIMATE STRATEGY!!

This isn’t chess.
