I’m 4NewHorizon and this is my uncanon short story Finding peace.

Taking place before the events of the Halo CE mission 343 Guilty Spark, my story follows the last moments of Wallace D. Jenkins as he, together with Sergeant Johnson Admrial Keys, enters the Flood quarantine and research facility on Installtion 04.
The idea for this story came into my mind during a school project. We were tasked to write a short story on topic of dystopia/utopia.
The day before I had replayed the mission I mentioned earlier and I remembered the cutscene where Chief encounters the Flood for the first time.
In this scene you can see the Flood attacking Keys and his squad of Marines. All are fighting them off, with the exceptions of two man: the “cameraman” of the group, Wallace Jenkins, and one Marine, who rans away in fear of this new enemy. While I was watching and playing I asked myself a question I had not asked before:
Why is this man not fighting?
Why he is just standing there and let himself be killed by the Flood?
And with this I had found something I could write about.
In my story I tried to understand why this man was not taking any action in protecting not even himself, but the others around him, too.
Unfortunately however I had to change some aspects of the charachters known from the game and from the level design as well to make my story interesting to read even for someone who isn’t familair with the game or franchise.
So if some charachters act out of place or is saying things they normally wouldn’t do, I am so sorry.
I did not mean to be disrespectful to any of these characters; I am only a hobby writer and this is my first Halo-related story and I didn’t know to put these awesome characters like Johnson well into my story, so that their personality stays the same and isn’t change in any form.
I’m sorry for my bad English as well. It isn’t the language I used to grow up with and if there are any mistakes in my story or in this text here please be not to harsh to me. Is hard to learn a new forgein language, I think we can all agree to that.
And should there be a canon reson why Wallace didn’t take a shoot: This is only my answer to that. If there is another, I couldn’t find it while I was collecting information for my story. And I’m happy that I didn’t find anything related to that because if I had found something, I had wrote my story along this one and wouldn’t have create something unique and on my own.
But enough now from the writing and explaining.
