I have played Halo 5 daily since launch. I have a great deal of commendations done, 124 unopened reqs from max commendations. I had accumulated over 1,160,000 in req points. I spent 160,000 req points and realized whats the point? I have this 1 cool weapon or vehicle that I will more than likely only use once and die within 60 seconds. I have all of these armor unlocks but I have been using the Athlon variant since launch. I would use a Legendary item if I had more of them. I agree, more game modes are needed.
I concur.
> more game modes are needed.
To me this is what Bungie did well 343 not so well. This post is not so much about the substantive content of the universe and characters of both games but moreso about the options for users. Bungie did it right. They didn’t leave the non-competitive player out to dry. They have a host of objective modes that people can CHOOSE to play and everyone is not coerced in to playing Skirmish aka Slayer.
Destiny has
Control
Rift
Salvage
All objective based modes that I can CHOOSE to play.
And also for non competitive players they have the Raids; Iron Banner tournament. There is a lot for the non-competitive player to do.
They even gave the competitive player something, ie, Trials of Osiris - monthly tournament.
What does the non-competitive player have for Halo 5?
No F’ing Options to play objective modes.
No monthly tournament.
Monthly updates that are not filling the bill as of right now
Faded looking forge maps
REQ system that I could care less about
Boring Warzone
So the non-competitive player doesn’t have a lot here IMO and is being left out to dry while all of 343’s time and effort goes to HCS. Despicable in my book.

I agree!!
no offense but Iron Banner is the opposite of non competitive…but yes H5 is also getting old for me…if I want a competitive FPS or something to play with friends then I play it…but if none of my friends are on then I’m out.

I love warzone. Arena I also enjoy. Team arena has objectives like strongholds, CTF, and breakout which is just CTF and slayer mixed together. Warzone and warzone assault are great for objective games. BTB is social and has CTF and strongholds as well as slayer thrown in. To be fair when destiny first came out it was only control(iron banner was also control), skirmish, salvage, and clash. That’s only 4 modes. Other gametypes weren’t added until 3-4 months after its release and only as weekly playlists(much like this game does). Trials wasn’t added until March of 2015 and rift wasn’t added until September with taken king. Destiny also launched with missions where the story was god awful, 3 strikes, and 1 raid that we were forced to play over and over again for months in order to progress. Not to mention the weapon balancing was abysmal and still is for some things, while halo 5 is completely balanced and marks the first halo game that truly is, but that is just my opinion. Now it also has optional micro transactions, which is the same thing we have in halo 5. If we gave halo 5 until June like we gave destiny two years an tons of money(which we don’t have to do with halo 5) then I’m sure it would be fine. I’m not saying we don’t need game modes as soon as possible, just that bungie is not a very good comparison from a developer standpoint.
There is more content in vanilla offline halo 3 then this up to date fully online halo 5. Sad but true.

As do I.
I’m not a competitive player. I like to play to have fun… and while I don’t “play to lose” I’m not so focused on stats and winning that I have to be in try hard or wannabe mode to get enjoyment from the game. I got sick of Warzone and all of its wrecks pretty quick. I held out hope for BTB, but with those maps… I won’t get into that, as I really don’t have to. I’ll just say even if I’d liked BTB that still only left it, or back to WZ.
I remember seeing one of the documentary videos on the making of H5 and how they ‘brought in the pros’ to test it. I remember thinking right then, “If the pros start helping and tweaking the game, the casual gamers will be hung out to dry”. -Yoink!- if (IMO) that isn’t just what happened. It ended up being a game of the pros, by the pros, for the pros… or those who want to play on that level. No thanks.
I might still have decided to get Halo 6 only for the campaign if that hadn’t been a disappointment as well. As it stands right now, I’ll just chuck H6 in my rental queue in hopes that the campaign somehow pulls a miracle turn around. Can’t see actually buying the next one since the entertainment value of this one didn’t really justify what I spent on it.

This comment doesn’t work exactly for the Xbox one considering that Microsoft pushed and stated multiple times that it would be always online, all the time. Destiny, battlefront, halo 5, Eso, and I’m pretty sure ark survival evolved as well. It’s what they want, and why they are paying for dedicated servers to begin with. Not all of the games I listed use them but I know Eso and halo 5 do for sure, I think battlefront does as well. Offline halo 3 only had more content if you had friends to play it with at your house. SInce you can’t play customs alone, it left you campaign an forge, both of which you can still do in halo 5.

Of course ESO is online only… It’s an MMO
yup I find myself playing less and less recently, max i get in at a time is about 4-5 games before i get bored and move on, it desperately needs some new modes and not just variations of slayer/strongholds.
The REQ system is supposed to be the “incentive” for playing, yet many players like myself could care less about anything in these packs. I set my armour/emblem one time and never look at it again. And could care less about Warzone. It’s such a tedious/boring task to open these packs, then sell everything. How many more ugly helmets can I get? It all just looks the same and is incredibly bland. Perhaps this entertains 10 year olds, but not many Halo veterans.
So boom, there goes the entire “incentive” to play this game. Combine that with unfair matchmaking, and monthly rank resets, there’s really no reason to play.

You totally validate your argument with that sentence.

To be fair, Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris are essentially unavailable for those who don’t have a full team. Minus those modes, Destiny’s crucible is the opposite of competitive, where the entirety of Arena in Halo 5 is geared toward competitive play.
Only problem is that Destiny has to pay money for all of the DLC and you cannot continue the game without the DLC. That’s just a ripoff.
I agree. I logged in yesterday and today and I lost interest after 10 minutes.
Halo CE: 2+ years before I moved on Bungie
Halo 2: 2+ years before I moved on Bungie
Halo 3: 2+ years before I moved on. Bungie
Halo 4: 5 months before I moved on 343i
Halo 5: 3 months and I’m almost out. 343i
notice any patterns developing?

How about play for fun? It’s a game after al, it doesn’t have to cure cancer after you beat it; it’s literally just a game.

Or maybe you’re just tired of Halo in general… Just a thought.

Go play destiny if you love bungie so much then. Enjoy the microtransactions that fund events with even more microtransactions in them.

I can’t. I’m a diehard halo fan through and through (I would even go down with the proverbial ship if necessary).
That doesn’t change the fact I have a legitimate gripe with what 343i has done with the franchise since taking over for Bungie.
