Finally enjoying H4 thanks to Legendary

Slayer. Except for the non precision loadouts this playlist is just
about perfect. Its just so much more fun to play when the power weapons
are on map spawn rather than just given to you via loadout or ordinance.

Im actually surprised more people are not playing it. Anyways I really didn’t want
to give up on the franchise and this really brought me back. Now I think there
can be some serious hope for H5. 343 deff had too much on their plate with this
game but I think they are getting the hang of it.

That said we still need way more balance overall so that Team slayer and doubles
and such are more fun.

Same. i think we definitely need some more maps though. Would like to see complex or at least Ragnarok added in. Without DLC there are only five maps. Valhalla worked ok in team slayer in Halo 3. Probably would have to replace the snipers with light rifles since there is no descope, which would detract from the map though. I understand their reluctance to use forge.

I agree we need more maps but the maps you suggested are vastly too large
for a Team Slayer playlist.

In my opinion a Halo game should have many classic maps such as Ascension and
Battle creek and a few others that everyone knows and loves on top of some new
ones. That would easily take care of the lack of maps problem.

Team slayer is meant for symmetrical and close to mid range action.

I understand your argument. Going only by past iterations, sufficiently open maps work ok for team slayer. Valhalla has been used for 4v4 team slayer in the past. I believe multiple versions of Blood Gulch have been as well. Complex isn’t great for it, but without ranks i’ve found that most (not all) players are willing to flow towards the “bridge building” which speeds up the game play a little.

But yeah, I get why you wouldn’t want that large of a map as a matter of personal design philosophy. But as far as symmetrical maps go… Zanzibar, Turf, and Guardian are three of my favorite maps in the franchise (I have played primarily team slayer since I purchased xbox live back in Halo 2) and have zero lines of symmetry.

Yeah they were really good maps. I suppose they do not always to be symmetrical
but Guardian had that symmetrical feel because you spawn one side of a round
map with a “base” in the middle. Awesome map.

But yeah anyways Legendary if released with the launch of H4 would have been
and would still be the most played.

I tend to agree, although the on disk maps aren’t super for the game type.

We kind of come full circle here that if each Halo game that was released was
launched with classic maps we all know and love that would dramatically help
with that problem.

Did we just have a Lion King moment? Now all we need is for hyenas to eat whoever made the decision not to give us this play list at launch.

Sadly this lone playlist and lack of classic maps could not have fixed all the launch problems this game had. I still have a serious problem with the ranks not being shown in game. The bolt shot. Being able to so easily back out of lobbies. blah blah blah. But yes bring out the hyenas anyways!

of course. The fact that they made a statement a couple months ago that they are proud of what they accomplished but acknowledge room for improvement makes me a little less critical of what was a first effort for a new studio (even though many employees had quite a bit of Halo experience). I mean, they didn’t get down and trash specific decision of a game they are still trying to sell more copies of, but not everyone is willing to risk a Hardee’s style “Hardee’s is awful… their burgers taste like cardboard and the restaurants are dirty… BUT THAT THICKBURGER SURE IS GOOD!”

Hopefully they will be able to temper their desire to make Halo their own with well grounded design philosophy in future installments. =D

Bravo said before that they were going to put the Pitfall map into Legendary Slayer so that should be good.

Everyone keeps saying this but there are already BR starts in Team Throwdown with similar settings.

oh yeah. Pit was a no brainer to put in the play list. Granted the map isn’t designed for sprint so it remains to be seen how it performs. Not to mention to rarity of DLC in matchmaking has been pretty well documented.

I agree. I love this playlist as well. It is all I have been playing since it came out last Monday. Except maybe for a couple of games in the Global Championship playlist. I did okay, but it just wasn’t as gratifying. There is something about knowing I am doing well or not doing well because of actual skill in my shot or good choices in map movement, or playing well with my team. Also when I have had the opportunity to play with and against others who obviously know what they are doing it is way more enticing than what I have been experiencing up to date.

I am still undecided about the BR starts. I kinda of like the aspect of having to decide at the beginning of the match which way to go, meaning do I take the time run for the BR, Carbine, or grab that Pistol on my way to the sniper; or go for those Rockets, Hammer, or Sword. I am surprised at how many players bypass precision weapons, and stay with their AR’s.

I do have a problem with all the quitters. Every game has them, and even on the teams that are winning. Too many players get discouraged and quit when they are not doing well.

I’m not surprised the population is low. I could be wrong, but my thinking is the players that are still around have gotten used to the load-outs, AA’s, waypoints for the power weapons, POD’s; and just the general way that the other playlists go.

I was mainly playing this game with the Weapons Mastery in mind, and using the appropriate playlists and load-outs to help me achieve this. However, since playing this I have had more heart pounding fun than I have had in quite some time, and don’t plan to go back any time soon.

Similar or not, no radar is a HUGE difference.

They need to update the P. Rifle spawn times to 30secs like Halo3 instead of the 60sec spawns they currently have. Go to the war games section and comment if you agree.

Agreed. There are some people on here that think that slayer pro actually catered to the “team slayer” people at launch…

So you really think they should add a BR starts version? Personally I wouldn’t care if there is BR starts because its my most used weapon, but how many different variations of slayer do we want?

> So you really think they should add a BR starts version? Personally I wouldn’t care if there is BR starts because its my most used weapon, but how many different variations of slayer do we want?

I wouldn’t have a problem with them adding BR voting options to legendary slayer, especially if it was map specific. I don’t advocate making an alternate play list or anything though.

I was just commenting on the fact that some people claim there is no desire for traditional Halo, or slayer pro would have been more successful at launch. The lack of radar is a huge turn off for many people.

BR loadout in legendary would be great as trying to use the assault riffle on Shutout is difficult to hit the long range shots.
