Finally a CTF only playlist!!! But...

We only have this very simple version of CTF to play. Even in customs we have no real options to make a deeper version of this game type.

No flag dropping, Arg!!! Don’t like it but I can deal.
Auto pick up, Arg!!! Don’t like it but I can deal.
Way point over flag carrier?!?!?!? No f-ing way.

It’s a strategy killer plan and simple. Get the flag and go the shortest route possible. This makes CTF far too simplistic to even hold my interest after only a few days. 343i wants the dedicated flag carrier. Fine, but the way point is over kill. We just need some options. We need some hardcore objectives.

I personally don’t mind the auto-pick up since you get an OP pistol when carrying the flag, but I really hate that the flag carrier is visible 100% of the time with a Waypoint over their head.

I’m also in this camp. CTF-Only playlist - awesome, sign me up (although we still haven’t resolved my sneaking suspicion there there’s no way to have multiple gametypes in a playlist, and 4v5 starts are awful).

I actually like the default settings pretty well, since they are basically Speedflag from Reach with a the Flagnum. It also makes for a more directed experience, since players seem to have a better understanding of the settings and concentrate better on the objectives (I’ve had a lot of really fun games). However, implementing classic settings should absolutely be priority.

The waypoint should at least have a delay between points, to make it a bit more difficult. Things I’ve also noticed is the flag pickup radius is a bit larger than expected, so unintentional flag pickups can happen.

Watching the MLG Dallas stream, I heard the commentators mentioning that the flag pistol was a 4sk minimum instead of the normal 6sk minimum. However, in my personal testing, the flag pistol was a 5sk minimum under normal conditions. Damage had to be increased to make it a 4sk, 125% definitely, but 110% might pass. I’ll retest it.

Other than that, a dedicated CTF playlist was definitely a great thing. Dedicated Oddball was also great too!

hopefully this will become the standard flag playist while having other types more based around sneakiness and other things

tho this is only 5v5 maps so it is more jus grab and run anyway, im hoping for big team objective cause you can never beat a good old 8v8 CF on big map and while everyones fighting in middle, you and a friend sneak round side grab flag and either sneak back across map or just mongoose it out of there =D

but back on topic the way point i think atm with the maps its played on without it once your out of their base theres not much the enermy team would be able do to stop ya even if you just run a straight line

WHAT? You guys don’t want a waypoint over the flag carrier!? Screw you guys. The waypoint on the flag carrier is a good idea! Because it makes it easier for us the track him down and plus the Flag carrier does not move slow anymore and he’s armed with a Magnum. Its up to his teammates to escort the carrier safely.

That’s why they did it. To hold your damn hand. How about chatting with your team and finding the location of the carrier. You know, do some thinking!!!

Op, halo ctf was probably one of the most boring and least played game types ever online in any halo game. You know why, because majority of the players never liked it. Majority of the time I ever player halo ctf online in the past halo games, the game turned into a slayer game. People would rarely go for the objective ever and it was almost impossible to cap a flag.

All of this didn’t mean the gametype sucked, in fact it was probably better than what we have now but it never worked in matchmaking because majority of the halo players don’t communicate very often and they don’t really like playing that strategically. Classic halo ctf is good for custom games with friends but it doesn’t work in matchmaking. Now with auto pick up, no flag dropping and waypoint over flag carrier, people are actually really playing the objective. I have had more fun on average in ctf in this game in matchmaking than any other halo game. It is simple but it is fun online.

I can deal with everything but the way point. It makes it such a fools game. Their are no real decisions to be made. Just follow way points till the game is over.
