File Versions....

So we finally have a working filebrowser on Halo 4. What I noticed straight away was that it was littered with different versions of the same files (including my own files). Why is this? Reach deleted files that were no longer on any file share, so how is it possible that I can find nearly twenty versions of my gametype? Surely they are not all on somebody fileshare?

This makes finding the newest version of a file nearly impossible without searching for the authors file share. For some reason the “Date Added” feature doesn’t sort the files properly either.

Just throwing this out there, because I don’t want to get banned for spamming the file browser. And honestly this is simply a big issue in my eyes. I don’t want people to play outdated versions of my custom games either.

It’s certainly possible that they are in several different people’s file shares. I think, as a community, it would fix the problem if we simply labeled new additions of gametypes and maps as: v1…v2…etc…

That’s certainly possible, but the files would still be hard to find if they’re not on top of the list. For instance, if an old file gets into the Most Downloaded section, that file will get more popular and newer versions will get overlooked. It’s already to late now to change the name of that file to _______v1.
