Feel free to leave your feedback, bugs, errors or requests here, we’ll use it as a temporary topic until the Web Team want to get their own running
Well now that the File Share is out and I’ve had some time to play around with it, I was wondering if certain things could be changed.
Requests
-
http://halo.xbox.com/en-us/haloreach/fileshare/ should take you to your File Share instead of having to go to the drop down menu and choosing File Share, it would be a lot more convenient.
-
Once at this screen, the only way to get a direct link to a file is by clicking the the image of the game mode/map/film and letting the javascript section load, to which you have to refresh the page before the URL will appear in the URL bar for your browser, it would be a lot more convenient if there was just a direct link button to copy or clicking the image would directly link you to the download page.
Problems/Bugs
-
Clicking the ‘Remove File’ button doesn’t do anything but take you back to your File Share screen and the file stays on, this only occurs when viewing a file on your file share and not when you are viewing all the files on your file share.
-
According to this image, you can have 25 files on your File Share, I am still only able to upload 24 in-game.
-
If a file has no author, for example, the Prisoner Anniversary variant in Matchmaking right now doesn’t have an author, it will break the section you are trying to view where it is uploaded, so take bs angel’s file share for an example found here, she currently has a older Team Hotshot variant in her File Share and it has no author name, making the whole Game Types section break on her File Share and others can not see it either.
#3 is also the case when you try to search for a tag on the File Browser and one of files doesn’t have an author either.
This has now been fixed and the author is changed to System on-site.
-
If a file name has the Author of BUNGIE w/ the Bungie logo, it shows up as ¦ on the website, which is the symbol Bungie used when modifying files to give them that author name, it would be a lot more convenient if it said Bungie or used the Bungie logo.
-
Rendered films will not load and will always tell you it is a problem with your internet connection.

Is the URL extremely long like this (example): http://halo.xbox.com/en-us/haloreach/filebrowser/#?section=Screenshot&MapId=&GameMode=0&SearchDate=0&SortBy=3&view-select=Tile&tags=apollo%20creed%2001&startIndex=72&details=7510586 or is it really small like this: http://halo.xbox.com/en-us/haloreach/filebrowser/Details/7510586
You have to refresh the page after clicking the image for the first URL to redirect you to the smaller URL, or at least for me on Chrome.
Cheers for that first link.
I get the shorter link every time.
For what I’m about to discuss we’ll call one the black page and one the blue page. The black page just shows you the file and details, the blue page looks just like normal Waypoint with our fancy new file browser in it.
So the default page when you click a file, screenshots at least, for yourself if the black page. If you copy and paste it over, you get the blue page. If you refresh the black page you get the blue page.
For one of my screenshots, this is the url for the black page. http://halo.xbox.com/en-us/haloreach/SirPwn4g3/fileshare#?details=28466707
For the same screenshot, here’s the url for the blue page. http://halo.xbox.com/en-us/haloreach/filebrowser/Details/28466707
Still not a long url, but certainly different.

Hmmm, I wonder why it isn’t auto redirecting me then
Looks like it will always auto-redirect the copied link to the blue page. I’ve tried taking the link to other tabs and from FF to IE9 and vice versa. I’m kinda wondering if perhaps the black page link will be for owner only, perhaps some personal moderation, approval of comments, things like that.
It’s encouraging to finally see a part of waypoint’s link structure that doesn’t require a gamertag to function. Hopefully they’ll be able to extend that to game details instead of just file details by the time halo 4 arrives.

Seconded. I’d very much like a convenient ‘get shortlink’ button.
I go away 2 hours from Waypoint to go to Playfire, and this is what happens???lol
Well this is awesome…and it’s technically not even “summer” yet

same thing for me, might be a chrome thing…
also i see someone has been lurking, lol
I’d like to be able to search for an exact file by its name, or similar names. Like a search engine. Its a no-brainer, if you ask me.
Is everyone that’s having this issue using Chrome? Have you tried to replicate the problem with Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, or Opera?
Right click the email button and click ‘Copy Email address’, when you paste you will get this:
?subject=Check this out!&body=Cool stuff: http://halo.xbox.com/en-us/haloreach/filebrowser/details/26521548
Just remove the first part, up to "stuff: ":

Definitely. Something like fileshare.halowaypoint.com/GamerTag/FILE_ID would be cool
Just jumped into fileshare myself. Noticed that none of my existing rendered videos will play. Bungie’s video format not supported? Should I just delete these and upload the unrendered films from my XBOX?

I couldn’t get my rendered film to work either, likely just tweaking some stuff on the back end, should be fixed in the future.
bring back recent screenshots, its heavily depended on for grabbing screenshots of maps or to show off art and still usuable even when fileshare is full, searching through the in-game filebrowser for each individual screenshot to upload to fileshare is a huge pain in the -Yoink- and its buggy as well, sometimes it won’t even load and just says corrupted when it isn’t.
recent screenshots just made things easier and faster.
This is the official fileshare support thread?

Suppose it is just temporary until they Web Team want to get one up and running.
