[Welcome back {Jacqueline Forschback}!]
[Beginning Playback]
The screen of the monitor showed an interrogation room. In the room was a man who seemed plagued by his own grizzled memories, and a girl, no older than 12 who looked bored and agitated by merely attending the interrogation.
[Kurt]: Jacqueline, im going to be completely honest with you. Lately, you have been more of a problem than a soldier. You continually defy orders, attack your fellow classmates, and berate anyone that has the misfortune of simply encountering you. Why? You were eccentric when you accepted my offer of recruitment and even further proved your mettle when engaged in combat. Its not that you cant do it, its just that you wont, and that concerns me.
The girl now identified as Jacqueline made a face that feigned cool, but behind it was uncertainty and anger.
[Jacqueline]: Do you want me to tell you what you want to hear, or what you need to hear? Because with all due respect, sir, I think my honest answer would get me court marshalled.
[Kurt]: Tell me what you think I need to hear.
[Jacqueline]: To be honest, it isnt living up to what I thought it would be.
The man looked at her with confusion. It was understandable because the person he was interrogating was part of a super-secret program that involved near suicidal combat operations.
[Kurt]: Oh? and pray tell, what gives you that idea?
[Jacqueline]: Its boring, bland, whatever term you wanna use for it. I actively search for conflict because im bored. I want action. I want to shoot things from long distances and make their heads [EXPLETIVE] explode. I want to kill. Dont get me wrong, training is a big factor regarding performance. Although, when said training doesnt exactly pose any threat, or present you with a serious consequence for failure, it isnt exactly motivating. Ive been here for six years, and not once have we had any serious exercizes to give us a more realistic idea of what were gonna be doing in the future.
[Kurt]: No serious exercises? So leaving you on a frozen planet with the simple task of returning home or facing death wasnt serious?
[Jaqueline]: Not when you have a UNSC Firebase 30 miles from the dropzone.
Kurt was beginning to get annoyed. The girl in front of him always contradicting his every point. Admittedly they were good criticisms, but her blatant disregard for authority was what irritated him
[Kurt]: You attacked 2 marines and stole a pelican!
Jacqueline remained indifferent.
[Jacqueline]: So di the Master Cheif, and look at him now; Hes practically a legend!
[Kurt]: Yes, that may be so. But he didnt hospitalise them! He disabled two of them and left. You, on the other hand, intentionally caused internal damage
[Jacqueline]: So? Theyre a-dime-a-dozen. Whats a few Marines? theyre cannon fodder.
That set him off. The idea that this child had such a blatant disregard for human life, Spartan or Marine, had disgusted him. But his rage was cold, and inward.
[Kurt]: You’ve taken every opportunity to parade your arrogance, and I’ve had enough of it. So Im going to offer you an ultimatum: You like long range engagements?
[Jacqueline]: y-yeah…?
[Kurt]: Well how about this? Ill take you down to the range, and you can test your skill. If you pass, you’ll be put in an advanced and accelerated course with the Alpha Company. Should you fail however, your memory will be wiped, and you’ll be returned to the streets of Elipses IX.
The cautionary look on the girl’s face instantly melted, and was replaced with a sneer, before again being overshadowed by confidence.
[Jacqueline]: Alright. If it means I dont have to go back there ill take any challenge that you throw at me.

/// End Playback.

Should I do more? I dunno.
