Fighting why?

Why do people fight about which game is better then the other, seriously, just knock it off and go play another game, its’ still gonna come out whether you like it or not and still gonna have lots of players, so how in the world by you not liking halo games will benefit cod games and how will not liking cod games gonna benefit halo games, seriously, I’d like to know, so then I can join the fight as a party of, hey, they both are good, so knock off your childish attitudes and play the one you like and let others live to be free.

No, this is not a which is which is better thread, but more of why people fight over the concept of it in the first place, why.

I get youtube links to why black ops 2 will be horrible, then the same for halo 4, so I leave them a message asking them to just knock it off…

Seriously, Why fight?

Summary Q: Basically, Why fight between shooter games of cod, black ops, mw3 and mw2, and halo games when we all can just have our favorite shooter game and be happy.

Summary Q: Are you gonna join my fight to stop the fights? {proly not, right]

This is a long debated topic, and the simple answer is that we will never stop fighting, because it is in human nature to try and prove yourself superior to others. If you like something, you’re going to want to stand up for it, which isn’t always a bad thing. Unfortunately, people need to learn when it’s been taken too far, which is sometimes the case in this argument.

So I agree, it gets obnoxious when we continue to hate on each other, but for now, there’s not much we can do to stop it. The best solution is to ignore it and not get involved.

If we knew that, a lot of problems would be solved.

Its in peoples nature to argue. Theres nothing wrong with people having a favorite and arguing which is better. An argument is something that is completely fine to have because it allows you to discuss why you feel a certain way about a game. Unfortunately, that doesn’t always happen and people start using faulty logic like ad hominems which basically means they just attack people as individuals to further their arguments. For example,

User 1:Halo Sucks
User 2: You only hate Halo because you’re clearly terrible and suck at playing games with skill.

My point is, we can debate our games intelligently, but there will always be those who try and make it personal or get too heated.

Ever since CE and the first COD thats how its always been and until these generations of both games teach the next generation of gamers how to act then this will just continue.

So its our duty as gamers to be a role model to all the other gamers and treat everyone how we want to be treated.

Aka: The Golden Rule

As others have stated, it is in the human nature to argue, which in essence is a good thing when the individuals arguing don’t take it too far and are willing to accept the other’s point.

But all too often people argue by using the worst logic and refuse to listen to the other’s opinion and points. Then, tempters get flared and the argument ends up going nowhere.

I see, thank you, tell you truth, I’m a person who hates to argue, I just do when someone starts to bring up a point, I turn around and leave as I treat them the way I know I’d treat them, be stubborn and try to convince them when there is no point. But I see, thank you, I just get annoyed of people bashing people and then when I see it being done online to games I like or hate, it just pisses me off. I can live with it to people, but when they do it online, thats when it gets real in real life too…

But yes, they do take it way to far, just like Austin said,I’ve seen way too many of those and find out they are very annoying, if you are going to argue, argue maturely and logically, which is hard, but it is possible.

Logical Argue:

I dislike cod because of the prestige class
I like cod because of the guns, they are different, and duel wield weapons.

I like halo because it has forge
I dislike halo because it don’t have more forge maps.

Those would be logical and true statements which could be used to argue your point.

So, I guess, fair isn’t good enough in people’s minds…
