I’m not sure how many of you have slogged out the Campaign on Legendary but I’m now officially at the half way point through AtN and I have to say, it’s exhausting! After the mission I just completed then I feel like I need to start running and keep running! Probably the hardest and most enjoyable RTS mission I have EVER PLAYED! Every time I thought I had that mission figured out I got hit, hard. Without giving away spoilers, if you want to experience what an “as real as it gets” outbreak experience is, then I highly recommend trying that mission on Legendary, because once the Flood started their advance they didn’t let up.
343i I am blown away! This mission took a little over 2 hours for me to complete and it engaged my interest for the entire duration! It so far has been the most gruelling experience I’ve ever had in an RTS genre, and the way the mission itself plays out is absolutely tremendous!! I can’t highlight enough how (for me personally) that’s what a Flood outbreak would really be like! Something only this genre of game can provide!
So I sincerely thank you for an epic two hours of nightmares and complete absorption into the infected section of the Ark! You guys got it right! I hope the relevant people at 343 get to see this post, because my hat goes off to you.
this is awesome, i recently did atn on legendary, it was a lot of fun, yea i rekon fighting retreat was the hardest to do with all objectives, it is a real sweaty palms mission haha
I love ATN’s campaign, but I can say Fighting Retreat was a absolute nightmare on legendary. No strategy anyone said that would “definitely” work ever worked. Pavium was worse, he was awesome to have for the first 3 defending phases because he could hold his own with a turret and a few grunts, but for that final phase he doesn’t do what you want him to do. He will go off and get killed and ruin the mission for you 9/10 times. On that 10th time anything else can go wrong for you. The locust are a great assistance but you put yourself at risk by trying to get them, devoting precious army pop to getting a unit. And you could just get bad luck. But beating it after 2 weeks of attempts feels so satisfying

The beginning of the mission isn’t too bad, but that ending, if anyone else is having problems, I spammed wraiths and engineers! You can send 1 engineer to each of the locusts to unlock them, I didn’t build turrets, absolute waist of time lol, but exploding barrels and leader powers 100% of the way! I also built 4 shield generators around my base, that seemed to be the only way to keep the tentacles at bay. Pavium has a mobility problem, keep an eye on the engineers because he gets aimed at big time for the last 2 minutes of the mission.
I 100% agree with what you’re saying lol, fortunately on the third go at it I managed to escape with 2 wraiths, and Pavium which technically speaking, is as good as it’s gonna get!

> Wait there’s easy skulls? Do they deactivate achievements? I guess it’s to late for me now anyways considering I’ve got 3 missions left lol
3 skulls that can help you out a little bit,but it’s still challenging either way
