Fiesta RNG is Really Bad

This may come across a bit ranty but seriously the RNG in Fiesta is so bad. 50-28 for the enemy team because they all had rockets, snipers, Skewer, you get the idea. What do I get? Well out of the 16 times I died I got the disrupter pistol for about 10 of those deaths and the rest was either the ravager or pistol and threat sensor for days. I’m not even joking those were the only weapons (pistol, ravager, and disrupter pistol) I got for the whole game minus the mangler and shock rifle once, but I was insta killed when I got the shock rifle because I spawned literally next to the enemy team so that was fun. It pretty much boiled down to can I run and get a better weapon before I get sniped- nope I got killed 2 seconds after I spawned this is great.

Fiesta is one of my favourite modes next to btb, but fiesta in Infinite just sucks to play because the RNG is so bad and it’s most games of it I play at least for me, I literally only touch it if there is a challenge. I’m not sure if it’s just the lack of weapons the game has (I don’t think that really should make you get the same gun almost 10+ times but w/e) but MCC and even Halo 5 had way better rotation for the weapons at least for me.

Ranting aside maybe I’m just really unlucky but when it happens enough you really start to ask questions. I do seriously think this is something that should be looked at because it does seriously feel like the RNG needs to be tweaked pretty heavy, like if you spawn with a pistol and ravager you don’t get either of those weapons your next life, but after you die again then you could get them again by chance. I think that would help with the rotation a lot.

I always look at it as a good time to practice with all the weapons. I can’t take it seriously as a playlist though.

That’s why I usually really like to play it as it gives you a chance to use a lot of the weapons you maybe won’t have a lot of chances to use or try to at least mix up different playstyles that maybe don’t pop up in other modes when the RNG actually allows for it.

I think its majorly a result of the lack of weapon variety, Halo 5 fiesta was extremely fun because of the diversity of weapons and variants the game had, and resulted in having a different weapon pretty much every spawn, so hopefully current weapon variants are added to the game, as well as more weapons that arent currently in the game

Halo 5 was probably my favourite fiesta just because of all the weapon varieties it had. That’s kind of what I’m thinking the issue is with the lack of weapons, is if not at least a contributer to the issue. It still makes it frustrating though when the game seems like it can’t rotate the small amount of weapons that much though still.

I had a game where I got needler five times in a row and pistols (disruptor, sidearm and plasma) along side it.
Didn’t get skewer, rocket launcher, energy sword or gravity hammer at all during the whole game.

The RNG should instead increase the percentage to get a weapon you haven’t gotten before and lower the chance of getting a weapon you have gotten more often. This way the weapon rotation would be a lot more balanced and almost guarantee that you will get each weapon at least once.

I agree, when fiesta first came out for infinite, i got the skewer 20 times in one game

I mean… that’s kind of the nature of an RNG based mode.

But I’m right there with everyone else ranting about how they have rockets the whole time while I get garbage plasma pistols during matches

I play it if I need sword challenges, but that’s about it lol

I understand and share in the frustration. As someone who thoroughly enjoys fiesta I have also experienced games where I have constantly spawned with the same useless weapons over and over again. One of my recent games I spawned with a plasma pistol and a pulse carbine basically every other respawn. I had another game where I was spawning with the disruptor and pulse carbine repeatedly.

This really does come down to RNG and that’s what fiesta has always been about. That and having dumb fun with power weapons. But I think some form of balancing could be done to make it a little less 100% random so that you’re not constantly spawning with the same guns over and over and over again.

Heck I even had one game where I was shouting at my TV “FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS HOLY! JUST LET ME SPAWN WITH AN AR OR SOMETHING!” I had just spawned with a pulse carbine and plasma pistol for the fourth time in a row after having spawned with it a couple of times prior. And this is more for levity here. I’ve never been very good with precision weapons in Halo so when I spawn with a sniper rifle and a sidekick I frequently sigh and just say “Well I guess I’ll just go die and see what I get next.” And I kind of feel like that’s part of the essence of fiesta. I try to have as much fun as possible, but on occasion the RNG does screw you over pretty hard and it’s not fun.

But hey sometimes when you don’t spawn with power weapons it presents an opportunity to be better with basic weapons than someone else who has power weapons. I had a game last week that I went 17 kills and 9 deaths. I didn’t really realize it until I looked at the Carnage report. I had zero power weapon kills. And that’s when I realized that I pretty much spawned with the BR, Sidekick, AR and Mangler in some combination most of the time.

Serious question, Does Halo 5 have more weapons than Halo Infinite, ( Not talking about alt weapon variety either ), like in general, Does Halo 5 have more weapons than Halo Infinite, cause it sure feels like it.

I honestly feel like it isn’t as RNG as it would have us believe. Anytime one team is doing poorly, they seem to always magically spawn with a ton of power weapons, especially Hammers, Swords, Rockets and Snipers. I’ve noticed this repeatedly. When one team is up by 10 or more, the opposing team gets a LOT more power weapons.

I got the hammer and sword together. Great if your on a tight map nope I get a nice long corridor map. Or a plasma pistol and pulse carbine. So good .

Yes H5 had quite a few more.
AR, BR, SMG, Magnum, DMR, Sniper, Hydra, Rocket Launcher, Shotgun, Plasma Pistol, Storm Rifle, Carbine, Energy Sword, Fuel Rod Gun, Plasma Caster, Needler, Gravity Hammer, Plasma Rifle, Suppressor, Boltshot, Light Rifle, Scattershot, Incineration Cannon and Binary Rifle.

And that’s not including some of the weapons that got added later or the variants.

Infinite has AR, BR, Sidekick, SPNKR, Sniper Rifle, Bulldog, Plasma Pistol, Pulse Carbine, Stalker Rifle, Energy Sword, Gravity Hammer, Needler, Mangler, Skewer, Shock Rifle, Disruptor, Sentinel Beam, Cindershot and Heatwave if I’m remembering correctly. That’s quite a few less. H5 had a lot of redundant weapon rolls across the factions.

H5 about 25
Infinite 19

Halo 5 basically had three versions of every type of weapon because you had Human guns, Covenant weaponry and Promethean hard light weapons. This caused an overabundance of both basic weapons and power weapons. But 343i has said that they do hope to bring in just about everything from past titles.

The thing is that the variants made them not so redundant, the light rifle is a good example, yeah the regular light rifle has the same place as the dmr and BR, but its variant Dying Star was better than just a br or dmr variant. The variants of the “redundant weapons” is what made them vastly different to their counter parts.

Yeah that’s why I was just listing off the baseline versions. Because the variants can be very different to the original. Because if I recall correctly the oblivion’s reign carbine from Halo 5 was basically just the needle rifle it could have been called something else because I’m terrible with names and I don’t really care much about Halo 5 at this point.

It’s always been this bad, even in H5. It’s just the RNG GODs way.

You’re not supposed to take it seriously as a playlist. That’s kind of the point. Fiesta is nonsense and chaos. That’s the intent of the gametype.

I liked H5 Fiesta, but it definitely wasn’t that great as half the weapons were Rocket Launchers or Explosive Weapons.

That’s the point of Fiesta, though. It’s just nonsense. It’s about as casual as casual gets in this game. It’s really fun, but not what I want to play all the time. That’s exactly what the variant playlists should be.

It’s one of my favorite playlists. I created a similar mode back in H2 LAN days at my house and it was a big hit, we played it all the time.

I’m just saying H5’s variant with all the REQ’s in it wasn’t my favorite, mostly because it had to many one-hit kill weapons.
