I heard rumors that FFA was going to be updated to the no autos/splinters/SA radar settings. Does anyone know if this is true? That would make FFA something I’d play again, but didn’t know if someone was just trolling the interwebs.
The changes are only for the HCS tournament FFA next week.

Dang, if those changes were in FFA I’d actually play it again. Sounds like it’d be super fun.
It’s just wishful thinking tbh. FFA settings have been broken from the beginning but I think 343 still thinks they’re good, despite the dying population. I doubt they plan on updating it, at least in the way people are thinking.

As the name implies those settings are geared for HCS 4v4 playlists. Not even close to the scenarios in FFA and Doubles. That and I’m sick of 343 jacking up the playlist every other month. It only took like 8 months to get Doubles in. That should be good enough.
If there gonna tweak FFA or Doubles they need to fix the horrendous spawns. That -Yoink- is unforgivable most matches.

HCS settings ARE being used for FFA in the competitive scene this summer. And in my opinion (and many others’ opinion) they award skill a lot more than vanilla settings. But to each their own. There’s a lot of people who love the vanilla settings, and a lot of people who love the competitive settings. In a perfect world we could have playlists for both, but population and the fact that 343 is (hopefully) working on creating an excellent Halo 6, I wouldn’t expect them to do such a complete overhaul and create all those new playlists.

I wouldn’t even call the current settings vanilla as they have already been changed signicanctly as it is. Either way FFA (and Doubles) are the most competitive modes in the game IMO and don’t need special settings to make them more competitive. We are already missing a substantial amount of playlists as it is. 2 or 3 more devoted to pro settings would be taking an even bigger bite out of the already short list of modes for us lowely commoners.

The players that favor hiding like little -Yoinks!- will do so with or without radars. In my experience ranged weapons are already favored over autos and autos are only used as a last resort. But you’re missing the point. These settings cater to a select few players not the entire community.
