I find it almost ironic that there isnt even a slayer FFA game.

Team snipers and FFA are on the rotating playlists. Of course it replaced it.
Did you even try playing it yet? Outstandingly fun playlist.
FFA objective = where most people go to buff up their K:D and ignore the objective
I can’t stand it.

IMO Team Snipes shouldn’t be a rotating playlist. The fact that it’s a rotating playlist makes me face palm.
I wish Grifball was here right now. I would play the heck out of Grifball and work with my Gravity Hammer and Sword commedations while I’m at it.
I found out this morning after not playing Halo for a few days to get some school work done that Team Snipers has been removed and replaced with “Classic FFA”. My initial thought was “Damn, I like sniping so that’s a bummer but at the same time Lone Wolves in H3 was one of my favorite playlists.” So I wasn’t to bummed and kept reading the article and found out that this CLASSIC ffa playlist will only offer two gametypes in it, Oddball and KOTH. Ummmmmmmm……WHAT. I can’t even begin to express to you how unbelievably frustrated I am at this ridiculous organization. What the hell is classic about not having a straight up slayer game type in a FIRST PERSON SHOOTER! THE ENTIRE POINT OF THE GAME IS TO KILL PEOPLE. Not to hold a glowing round sphere that has the magical power to annihilate biologically altered super soldier in one thrust.
I simply cannot wrap my head around the idea that this playlist is called classic yet is entirely objective. Also if 343 would check the stats that Bungie recorded during halo 3, they would find that player’s biggest gripes about Lone Wolves was the fact that objective game types were so hard. King of the hill on any map is just a giant Yoink! show where one sits in a hill for at most 3 seconds before being bombarded with such a heavy assault of grenades that the screen lags. Regicide is clearly their half-baked first attempt to recreate Lone Wolves but why not just make a normal FFA playlist in the first place. All of these issues seem to be simple fixes an obvious no brainers in my opinion so I just don’t understand why 343 Industries continues to ruin this game time and time again.
Playlists are my single biggest annoyance when it comes to H4 and it is because I believe that 343 has got it all wrong with its selection of standard and “random”/”rotating”/”hopping” playlists. Dear 343, WHY DOES TEAM SNIPER,AN AMAZING PLAYLIST, GET BOOTED OUT FOR “NOT HAVING ENOUGH PLAYERS” WHILE -Yoinking!- FLOOD REMAINS A SOLID PLAYLIST. You guys are out of your -Yoinking!- minds if you think you’re really pleasing people with the decisions you’ve made in matchmaking thus far.
Adding swat was obviously a good move but by telling people “at any moment this playlist could be gone be gone if we feel like it” you’re sending a HORRIBLE/IDGAF kind of message to each and every person who even mildly enjoys that playlist. 343 industries needs to understand the concept that they have made a true, living, breathing Halo title and because of this PEOPLE WILL PLAY. But the key is to maintain that Halo universe. I bought Halo 4 because I wanted to play Halo, not some half-baked, super future version of COD. There is NOTHING very enjoyable about COD and that’s why I play Halo so why bring “successful” elements of that game to a totally different universe? Makes no sense to me because it changes the entire concept of the game and it’s no longer Halo.
There was an unreal amount of hype for Halo Reach because it followed Halo 3 and was promised to be the next stage of evolution in the Halo series and flopped harder than anything we’ve ever seen because it was just didn’t feel anything like the Halo we knew and loved. The key to keeping people happy is to give them the opportunity to play the game types they want to play and giving them regular, efficient matchmaking updates. When done in an environment that screams true Halo people (generally) will be happy. These equations aren’t rocket science so I just don’t understand why 343 can’t get it right. I feel like every decision 343 Industries has made with this game thus far has had little to no thought, effort, or mild creativity put into it.
My general solution to 343 Industries for fixing these playlist issues is simple and goes as thus:
Step 1: Get your heads out of your -Yoinks!- and pay the -Yoink!- attention your fan base.
• You guys are completely ruining this game for any and every single person that has any sort of experience with previous Halo titles.
Step 2: Consolidate the playlists that obviously coincide with each other.
• Dominion, Capture The Flag, KOTH and Oddball should all be in the same playlist. Having them as separate is nonsense. FFA Classic is completely ignorant without having slayer. Regicide can also be included in the FFA playlist but normal slayer in a Halo title is more than standard. That’s just the way things are supposed to be….
• When you consolidate the playlists, players will begin to play and enjoy different game types giving them a better overall experience of the game. THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT. If entering a Team Doubles match in Halo 3 knowing that there was even the remotest chance that I could get Team Snipers on the pit, you can believe I would play EVERY SINGLE TIME. Gametypes are king in the Halo world. People will generally learn to cope with the gameplay factors that they find annoying as long as there a efficient matchmaking updates rolling out. The key is to put them in the type of games that they find most enjoyable to alleviate the strain on the gameplay. There will obviously be game types/coupled with maps that every player doesn’t particularly enjoy but that is why they are given the option to veto.
Step 3: Cut this rotational playlist -Yoink!- out. Or at least do it with experimental playlists that no one has seen before.
• Why you guys thought it would be a good idea to make Team Swat and Team Snipers, two of the most influential playlist in the series of Halo, “Rotational” is beyond me. I don’t even want to know the answer. These playlists need to be permanent. There is no reason to rotate these when your fans clearly asked for them when the game launched. Team Doubles should absolutely be added as well since that was easily the most popular playlist in Halo besides Team Slayer.
• I honestly like the idea of a rotational playlist. I think that concept has SO much potential in the title to be popular. This could be couple with Double EXP, do random awards like Bungie did with Recon, or just do a fun playlist for a week like V Day Massacre. And maybe just maybe you could bring about a never before seen game type that people love (and I don’t mean one copied from COD…). Griffball was the Yoink! when it came out and was one of the most popular double exp playlists. Hell you could even set up a poll on your website to let people CHOOSE what rotational playlist like that they would want to see come that week just to generate hype and bring in more players! All you have to do is exercise a little creativity and you guys can not only come up with something great, but something evolutionary.
To 343: I writing this review in a brutally honest fashion not to be rude, mean, or to make you guys feel like Yoink!. I’m writing it because I truly care about this title and really want to see it prosper. You guys have given me and countless others in this community something that no one else could and believe me WE APPRECIATE IT! I just don’t want to see it die before it could ever reach its full potential. I do not believe that this company is directing this title in the right direction and I’m not happy with it. As your fan and as your customer I expect certain standard from you and at this point in time you are not maintaining it. By no means am I or anyone else asking you to be perfect or flawless, we’re just asking you to be Halo.
