FFA Throwback Doesn't have Slayer

You cannot be serious. You can NOT be serious!

Rumble Pit in Reach was my most played playlist. I had a 40 in Lone Wolves. I really like Free-for-all. Let me be frank – Regicide ain’t doin’ it for me. It’s far too random, casual, whatever you like to call it. Too many “Oh, bull!” moments for me.

So I was excited when I read that FFA throwback was coming to Halo 4. And then I read that it’s only KotH and Oddball. Don’t get me wrong, I like playing Objective modes in FFA, but Slayer is the meaty bit. Regicide isn’t slayer. KotH and Oddball can’t carry the FFA throwback playlist alone. Give FFA Slayer a chance to shine, 343.

I agree. Regicide is the only game mode where its good to ACTUALLY be in 2nd place near the end of the game. I hate it. I want regular Rumble Pit slayer back.

I was also shocked and saddened by this as I would love to have a straight FFA slayer. Regicide has the potential to be a great gametype but as it sits right now it’s not. If they put a smaller cap on the King’s bounty and gave the player bonus points for being and staying the King it would be sooooo much better.

Halo’s standard FFA always was random and casual. Reach’s FFA arena was a descend, due to it’s limited power weapons and assists counting as kills, but it lacked a 6 player cap.

Halo 3’s Lone wolfs on the other hand had a 6 player cap, but it had random objective gametypes.

I like Regicide the most. It isn’t as random as the previous FFAs

Well, I certainly don’t believe that. When I won in 3 and Reach’s FFA modes it was because of my personal performance. Yes, FFA is naturally less competitive than a team match because a lot depends on where you spawn and what the other players are doing when you spawn. Luck certainly plays a part, but that doesn’t make it casual. The skillful part of FFA is making the most of the opportunities you get. A less skilled player wouldn’t optimize his spawn. Perhaps he misses out on that potential double kill. Perhaps he can’t secure the power position on the map in time to grab the lead. A skilled player would seize those opportunities. Skill gap.

Regicide is the union of FFA Slayer and Juggernaut. I will say that Regicide is a much better Juggernaut than Juggernaut was. But it can’t hold a candle to FFA Slayer. Why? Because the gametype punishes you for being the leader. When you’re the king, your rivals are getting extra points that you are missing out on because suicides don’t count as regicides. This results in lopsided leaderboards. Players with only a few kills and abysmal K/D spreads are able to steal the victory out from under the noses of the better players.

I’m not saying Regicide needs to go. I like Regicide, to a point. But Halo 4 deserves a straight-up FFA slayer mode in MM. My ideal Halo 4 FFA playlist would be a grab bag of Slayer, Regicide, King of the Hill, Oddball, Extraction (Extraction in general needs to get here ASAP), with an emphasis on Slayer. Hopefully I don’t have to wait until Halo 5 to see it happen.

If you’ve played any other Halo you should know that Team Throwback is only objective. Always has been and always will be.

Pretty much this.

Even on Halo 3, the playlist description was

“Flag and Oddball from Halo’s halcyon days. Slip into these familiar favorites and get your frag on.”

The FFA bit, well, that’s just means every man for himself, as opposed to the two team based playlists we have.

343 logic. Thousands of people want FFA slayer. Literally nobody has ever asked to play an objective FFA gametype. Lets give them the latter.

Good job guys.

I’m beginning to think no one at 343 has ever actually played Halo before.

Rumble Pit, and those asking for it’s return say ‘Hi’.

Common sense would dictate that the sudden appearance and removal of FFA Throwback meant it got put up on the rotation ahead of it’s time. Safe to assume that an FFA Slayer playlist will have it’s time in the rotation as well.

I played thousands of Halo 3 rumble pit games. A solid 90% of which were slayer.

Of course. Slayer was weighted heavily to come up, more than 30% of the time. Doesn’t negate that objective game types were in there (as with Reach, too), and that people have asked for them to return.

Fair enough, all nine of the people who like FFA objective “who gets the luckiest spawns” gameplay aside, no one ELSE wants FFA objective.

FFA objective is crap imo, but some people like it, so i wouldn’t object to having it in the ffa playlist with slayer. as long as slayer was more heavily weighed… i need my FFA!!!

Fail.

i don’t understand why they won’t just add a FFA playlist and a Regicide Playlist. Each playlist would contain slayer, oddball, and KOTH variants.

I am so sick of this already, if i knew we would still yet to have an FFA slayer/rumble i would have never bought the game and just re-bought reach. Outside of team slayer the only other mode i use to play the most was rumble pit. They obviously are not listing to us and i get the feeling they could give a **** less. :frowning: Oh well, you win some you lose some when buying games and it seems i messed up when i bought this for the online modes, i also thought 343i would take care of the halo community by respecting what so many of us have always come to enjoy for so long. If anyone from 343 is reading this, which i highly doubt id just like to say that i think regicide is the worst mode in halo history and it will never please those of us that have a need for slayer FFA ect or any other FFA mode the thousands of us have been begging you for. Next time there will be no day one purchase.

EDIT: Made my own post.

This thread needs to stay alive and on top! Who in the name of all that’s holy asked for objective gametype in free for all? NOBODY!! I played a match of KOTH and the mess there just made me sick to my stomach. I’m so mad right now I’m afraid I’m gonna hit something or someone!!!
