I disagree on Dispatch.
I agree entirely on Simplex. There’s no power positions and you just get sandwhiched between two people with no escape 24/7. It’s not designed for FFA.
I don’t feel strongly either way about Shutout.
They had a community forge ffa playlist…what happened to those maps? Those maps were actually good for the most part.
I like both of them. It makes me feel like I’m playing halo 2 FFA with lockout and midship. I think the problem you, myself and many others are having stems from there being too many people in ruble pit games. 8 is to large of a number to have on most of the map. Look at haven. It almost impossible to spawn with out there being someone right next to you. That’s not a fault of the spawn system, its just that there are too many players to not spawn you next to someone. Also pair that with instant re spawn and you are just asking for trouble.
Drop the player count to 6
Add 5 sec respawn time.
Farrovv is right, maps like haven are to small.
Played FFA once on haven, just got the beam rifle near the blue team spawn and a enemy spawned 10 meter from me and he killed me.
The best thing to do is drop the player count to 6 players.
I dunno… on a good day I don’t mind them, but it seems nearly every game is just straight up chaos. I would like to see some of the other community forge maps in rumble pit. THEY were fun, especially that really cool one on ravine. Plaza I think it was.

Shutout is terrible for ffa, infact for anything on this game, it just doesn’t support h4 with sprint and all the other bs. It’s too easy to get spawn trapped at elbow or bottom lift.
Dispatch and Simplex are the same to me, chasing people round the outside and getting caught due to people instant respawning just behind me
Most ffa maps are too small for 3 reasons: instant respawn, sprint, 8 players.
If they cut any of those most maps would be fine, I’d say a reduction to 6 people is the most sensible.
I LOVE simplex! So many ways to engage and evade enemies! Shutout is Lockout…so I love that one as well!

shutout- I don’t like for FFA.
simplex- I actually think it works surprisingly well for its size.
dispatch- I don’t have strong feelings about, but it does sometimes get boring.
In all cases the community FFA maps were better and they should just bring a good number of them back.
Edit: about the player count: I think if they adjust spawn times it would work fine for eight as I don’t really mind it as is.
Dispatch lags horribly on split-screen, it’s hardly playable.

I agree with dropping the players to 6. 3sec respond timer wouldn’t hurt (doesn’t need 5)
Simplex is ridiculous for me i mean…theres really no FFA style
that why people select them most of the time, is easy kill anyone, there no places to control the game or being a beast
actually, for me in this map the strafe is the most useful thing
about the other two i think they are fine
Dispatch is just boring and while I would rather have it instead of Relay, there are much better forge maps out there.
As for shutout, lockout is probably the most overrated 4v4 map in franchise history. The only thing it has ever been good for is ball and with the throwing mechanic even that won’t work.
If you are going to have a remake, lockout is definitely not the way to go.
Shutout wasn’t made with armor abilities in mind, so it’s not that good.
There already is a 3 second spawn timer in FFA right? I’m pretty sure it’s in both infinity and rumble pro. I think they need to improve the spawning algorithm but 8 players with a 3-5 second spawn time is fine for these maps.
Simplex is great - so many routes to engage or disengage and awesome grenade bank possibilities. I’ve been sandwiched many times to escape and return for the double kill when the 2 players chasing me engage each other instead. More skilled players know how to prioritize better so it’s more difficult to pull off but still the map is fine for FFA.
Dispatch is okay but I think the snipers are useless and should be replaced. There are far too many random objects, ramps, and obstacles on the map that make movement a pain - I wish it would be more smooth to navigate. They need to add spawns on the bottom of the map under bridges or in bottom mid because right now all the spawns are on the outskirts of the map which results in unfair spawns sometimes.
Also, I’ve gotten Incineration Cannon in my ordnance twice already in FFA out of maybe 4 times max I’ve played the map which is ridiculous. Put Rockets or Cannon bottom mid and maybe replace the Snipers with Railguns or even the garbage Sticky Det (Grenade Launcher would’be been -Yoink!- on this map - damn you 343 you removed the best weapon from Reach!).
Shutout is a map I personally dislike for most gametypes simply because I feel it doesn’t flow well and I don’t understand how to play it “right” just yet. However, the sniper is actually useful on it unlike Dispatch but I feel this may be it’s only redeeming quality for FFA. It simply doesn’t flow well with players of random skill and it’s a bit too easy to dominate for highly skilled players.
I think they should add the 3 winners of the community forge FFA playlist / contest to this playlist. They definitely need to find a better way to match up players with the Majestic maps on Rumble Pit because they all play great on FFA.

Simplex, yes. As someone above put it, there’s no real power positions so you’re constantly getting double teamed with no room for escape. You can’t really hold down any areas.
Shutout has its power positions, I just believe that the spawns need some serous reworking. Lockout in Halo 2 had a lot of spawns BR 1,2 and 3, library, snipe 2 etc. but you’re constantly spawning bottom blue in Shutout.

We’re looking into bringing our favorites from this list back into the playlist! Some were indeed quite good - we’re working with the Forgers to ensure that they receive a few updates and improvements before getting put back into a permanent playlist such as Rumble Pit.
Thank the guardians for that. Many playlists are in serious need of some map variety.
I agree. I hate the Simplex and Dispatch, Shutout just doesn’t work in Halo 4 the way it did it Halo 2&3.
