FFA needs torque and other playlist map suggestion

It makes zero sense that stasis is in FFA and torque isn’t. Take out stasis and add torque I would say or better take out overgrowth and add torque. Also it would be epicness if you added the anniversary throwback maps, without CE pistol starts of course, into the playlist as well. Get rid of remixes and replace them with throwbacks. If you dumped some of the remixes and added the throwbacks it would give the playlist a lot better map diversity instead of all feeling so the same.

I do not mind riptide, however I do agree that Torque needs to be added. The one issue I would bring up about torque is the placement of the sword and active camo. Yes, both teams will most likely be rushing both right off the start but it would not be hard for one man to get both the sword and the invis. It could not be placed anywhere else on the map because that would automatically favor another team but maybe the giant whole in top mid could be covered so it is not as easy to get into bottom mid. Just a couple thoughts. As of right now, the map rotation in most of the playlists is pretty bad. I have been playing swat and playing mercy 3 times in a row, which is also a horrible map. The halo 4 version haven was a good map, but the remake is absolutely garbage. That’s not related to FFA just a couple thoughts.

It makes plenty of sense. There are far too many power weapons on Torque to be put in FFA without changing the map specific to FFA. Stasis plays well without making any changes to it. You can’t have 2 sniper rifles, Invisibility & Sword all in a single FFA match. Torque also feels much larger than Stasis and large maps play worse than small maps in FFA. Also there is no easy way out of bottom mid on Torque like there is on Stasis.

were talking FFA here…And it is not difficult to get sword camo combo off the bat in slayer. I do it almost every time…

Thank you, that is the exact point I was trying to make. Sword camo combo is pretty op and unfair and should not be easy to obtain…

I think it is perfectly fair. Both teams have equal opportunity on it at the start of the game and the better team usually gets it. But then throughout the rest of the match both can be up for grabs and spawn at different times depending on sword usage. There are multiple maps with power weapon & power-up combos that would qualify as OP if this instance is OP…for instance:
The Rig - Invis & Scatter Shot & Sniper
Truth -Invis & Sword
White Cell - Invis & Scattershot & Rockets
Pegasus - Invis & Shotgun & Sniper
Orion - Overshield & Shotgun & Sniper
basically any map with a 1 shot kill weapon and a power-up would quality…

On truth, invis and sword on the complete opposite side of the map… on pegasus the invis shotgun and sniper are all spread out, so different advantages for each team, and other maps such as coliseum and molten are examples of maps with spread out power weapons that create advantages for both teams. But you are right though, multiple maps have unfair spawn advantages concerning power weapons and power ups. But not too surprising as 343 map making, spawns, and power weapon/power up placement is usually trash.

True, but it really is only ever the very beginning of the match when both the sword and invisibility are both available at the same time. After that you are in the same boat where you could get one or the other and then have to wait around to try and get the second. Plus there is an open line of fire with the sniper rifle at the beginning of the game at sword and invis. Torque has to be one of the most balanced & symmetrical maps imo.

BTW in FFA on Truth, invis now spawns on the jump up from bottom mid to top mid, directly under where the sword spawns…

It wouldn’t be that hard to change the weapons of torque to match FFA play. Also stasis has rocket launcher, over shield (pretty close together) along with shotgun, and hyrda. That is quite a few power weapons for one map and actually all pretty close together.

I would highly advocate watching Vetoed’s video on maps that could benefit from tweaks and balancing - 36 min long. Torque is in there from the 26 min mark

Some observations about some of the FFA maps - I think it’s time for BR / AR start in the playlist also

Ones that work
Truth - most even map in the game
Mercy - easy access to a variety of weapons and generally allows fair spawns
Coliseum - variety of routes, cover, weapons, sight lines, spread of power weapons
Regret - BRs in bases, few power weapons so gun skills matter
Tyrant - differing levels for combat, good weapon spread

I am indifferent to
Plaza - I get spawn locked a lot near Flowers BR, corridors too narrow
Fathom - dominated by Railgun at times, the bases and
Eden - doesn’t flow, Blue base ramps to Catwalk just suck, random Hydra deaths
Molten - splinter nades, becomes a melee fest
Riptide - Hydra deaths, Rocket spawn death trap, Shotgun campers and I can go for significant periods without finding other players on the map
Empire - shotgun for days

Ones that don’t
Riptide - too spread out, weapons are boring
The Rig - just awful, if it’s not someone with Scattershot and Invis, it’s corner campers
Torque - bland, too spread out, 2 snipers? Invis and Sword?
Overgrowth - oh dear - it’s just corridors and melee. I get wrecked by Railgun and Needler a lot. Spawn dominant on Needler.

I don’t waste time with YouTube videos. Torque belongs in FFA. It wouldn’t be that hard for them to just change up the weapons on the map. Torque us a great map and a map that reflects what maps should be like in H5 with moving environments and good graphics.

Torque was awesome before they ruined it with the refresh. But I’d take it either way, especially cause it is 1 of 3 maps in Arena that spawns BR 55s. Far as what maps should be like, the variable terrain and backgrounds are cool, but I am sick to death of urban and industrial environments!! What the hell happened to open spaces, ruins, blue skies, Halo rings, etc. The map design and art style in H5 is repetitive and depressing.

But I am totally on board with getting rid of those -Yoinking!- remixes. I like Riptide and Molten but the rest of em…I HATE them. Throwbacks need to happen for sure. I can sum it up in 2 words!
