FFA minority

I know I am in the minority of the FFA players but I miss 8 player lobbies. With six people I feel like I’m running around looking for an enemy the whole time with very little luck. When I finally do find someone another guy comes up behind me and kills me. I am getting way more kills “stolen” now with less people. I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this with the reduced lobby sizes.

You are very much in the minority… FFA was complete garbage with 8 players… how can you say you are getting more kills stolen now?! It is way way more skill based now as it should be and not just a frantic mess which luck of the spawn played the biggest factor in who won not actual skill. Since making FFA max six it is all I will play. It plays so awesome now.

I’ve actually always been a fan of 4-player FFA in shooters, my favorite being Doom, but I also really enjoyed it with Halo. It just makes everything feel more personal instead of the maps being crowded and filled to the brim with opponents.

However, recent games in the series aren’t really well-built for that, due to the way that maps are structured. Having all the twists, turns, and longer spaces isn’t really bad for 4v4 teamplay. If a game wants to achieve good FFA with a smaller player count, the map design needs to be implemented in a way which makes it easier to spot people. I generally like simpler maps in games to begin with, where there are a few places to run and it provides just enough breathing room for the player, but there isn’t all this unoccupied space around that isn’t really necessary.

I love FFA and the player count doesn’t bother me 6or8 idc. Now with that said I can’t even play this Gametype without breaking a sweat, heart pounding, internal anger, and honestly stress. With that said I think it’s the most competitive playlist.

I think for ranked you really can’t have more than 6 for a more skill based game.
That being said, I much prefer the ridiculous blood bath that is 8+ player free for all. Probably because back in Halo 2 all I ever did was play 12-16 player FFA (often swat rules even) on tiny maps like Lockout. Talk about a bloodbath! It was glorious and I loved every second of it.
I would love to have a social playlist with 8+ player FFA that included more game modes if they add them (like oddball or KOTH, maybe even infection on occasion,) rather than just slayer.

8 players was fine. More players=more fun. Games are supposed to be fun. Sick of this “OMG must be pro skills hardcore MLG competition video game stroke” mentality…

Just because people can’t handle being shot at by more than 1 player… Or the maps are too small…

Seriously though I can’t even find games in FFA any more since the change…

i get what you are saying

however i think it has to do with the maps more than the amount of players

these maps are not made for SWAT/FFA

they work well in doubles and 4s but lack elements that make SWAT and FFA work and feel fluid
