FFA matchmaking. Gold Vs Plats

Since the Anniversary playlist is gone, I decided to play my 10 quali games for FFA.

Now, I’m a silver player, maybe Gold if I’m on my game that day.

So why do I constantly see myself getting matched against plats and higher during quali matches? You don’t see it in Slayer and Team Arena. Surely it knows I’ve never been that level, so why put me up against them?

Is there something I’ve missed in the last few updates for FFA matchmaking?
