FFA changes have turned this game type from one of my favorites to one I’m not playing anymore. 6 players down from 8 takes away the opportunity for AR dominated kills, close hand combat, and spray and pray noob techniques that result in kills for less experienced players. It was a great game type to work on aim, build new skills, learn the maps, and practice without negatively affecting a team of ppl with hugely positive KDA’s. There are quitters and idlers, and tracking down 4-5 ppl on one of the maps built for 8 is a pain. Games take way longer, are way less exciting, and play much more similarly to Pistol/BR dominated game types like Team Slayer, etc. Please consider bringing back a classic Rumble Pit/FFA game type, thanks!
“Noob techniques” shouldn’t be encouraged. However, using weapons in their designated fields of use isn’t necessarily noobish.
I’d be fine with a social 8 player Rumble Pit, but definitely keep it at 6 for ranked.
I think 8 players was fine, I think there just needed to be a 1 second invincibility when you spawned where all u can do is move but not attack.
Social playlists are coming, and having FFA exclusively be a casual mosh pit for beginners doesn’t make sense anyway.
Thanks for your input. I think noob techniques aren’t techniques chosen by the noobs, jut what they’re stuck with until they improve. Everyone starts somewhere. More experienced players can use pistols/power weapons from vantage points in FFA, but it’s nice to have a game type that is less adaptable to camping techniques, since noobs don’t have stealth skills or good map knowledge. “Encouraging” new players is not condoning poor techniques, ppl will build better techniques faster if they enjoy playing. There are plenty of game types for ppl who don’t prefer FFA, but I’m not predicting that the changes to the game type will draw tons of players who weren’t into it before- I’m open to being totally wrong, but I hope not. Thanks again for the discussion
I think it would be fine if nonranked was 8 people but I prefer the ranked version to be 6 people. The spawn placement/system can’t handle 8 FFA players on these maps. Sure for team game types it works most of the time but for FFA not so much.
Example would be on regret. Folks always camp window where DMR spawns. Why? Because every few seconds someone will spawn right in the base to be shot or right outside DMR spawn. There really shouldn’t be situations where you spawn, kill someone at the get go just to have another player spawn in your previous spawn location.
With 6 people I see more 1v1s and an environment where people can work on their gunplay.
