FFA Broken

I am a huge fan of Free-for-all, but Halo 5 has turned me off… The spawns in the FFA playlist are absolutely GOD AWFUL. I will kill someone and then have another random enemy spawn literally feet away from me, but behind, giving them a kill on me right out of their spawn. I’ve noticed that when a couple people drop out of the match the FFA spawns are much more reasonable. Your FFA playlist is better with 6 people rather than 8.

Secondly, the radar completely blows. Extend it back to 25m. I can’t fathom why the radar is such a short range, especially in FFA matches.

Thirdly, starting with the AR and Magnum is OP. The magnum is basically the best weapon in the game and far too easy to get kills with. How about a debuff? Say, 6 shots to kill a spartan. 5 shot kill with the magnum was an incredibly terrible idea. The DMR is a 5-shot kill… It shouldn’t have as much power as a “POWER WEAPON” as you like to call it.

Fourthly, PEGASUS is the most terrible map I have ever played on in ANY Halo game. I’d rather play the worst Reach forge map than play on a garbage map like Pegasus that spawns you up against a wall with nowhere to go but straight forward. I’ve died so many times instantly off spawn from random grenades flying into the dead end where I am placed upon respawning.
The more I play Halo 5 FFA, no, Halo 5 in general, the more frustrated I get with how crap the experience is.

I totally agree with you the major issues are:

-Spawn (no need to say more)

-radar (because its already too late)

-size of map/number of player per match ( I feel like there is never a safe spot in FFA in halo 5 where you can recharge you shield to be able to engage another enemy.You are almost always under enemy fire )

-Ranking is ridiculous you finish 5th with negative kda/kd and you still rank up (lol)

LOL same here, I won 0 game first almost all last… actually I finished once 7th and got Onyx 1500. This ranking system must be the biggest joke in the Gaming industry of all games.

If they don’t fix ranking system/spawns/power weapon times, this game will die this month. It wont last more than 1 month.

Agree on the spawns. Reducing the number of players (especially given the relative size of the maps) is not a bad idea at all. Mega agree on the radar (for all radar-sporting playlists).

You raise an interesting point on the DMR vs Pistol, but in 343’s defense, they are respectively more and less effective at varying ranges. Closer up, the pistol will likely outperform (again given the relative size of the maps, pistol may then be the wiser choice). That said, 343 was pretty upfront about saying the pistol is probably one of the best weapons in the hands of a skilled player (I at least remember them saying so during the Live Launch Event). The more I play, the more I find the pistol has the more reliable feel in Arena.

lol tho @ doomsayers always assuming a game will die in a week or month or whatever. xD

Pegasus’ spawns do not make me happy… Feel the same way about Truth/Regret.

I totally agree with you …spawns ?-radar too small…take out the A/R or down grade them…
size of map to small ,cramped, ALWAYS SOMONE SHOOTING YOU JUST AFTER A BATTLE.

I completely agree with you. I have been spawn killed many times and I also have spawn killed other players many times. It hardly seems fair. You literally have no time to react before you’re getting killed. The radar is a bit small too. I can see someone in front of me and yet they are not on the radar. It’s difficult to figure out how to approach a situation if you don’t even know where the enemy is until they are right on you. This coupled with the fact that maps are relatively small and there are EIGHT people in the match, it pretty much force close quarters combat because the maps are densely populated. It’s no wonder it’s difficult to be spawned away from combat. Also the map size and congestion makes longer range weapons like the sniper and DMR less of a viable option. A little map size variation in the playlist can’t hurt. All this aside, I don’t hate FFA at all. I enjoy it, but I do feel like it needs a little tweaking. There should be less people per match (like 6) to help make things less populated, better spawns, and in the future maybe some more long range maps.
