Fewer Hackers, More Bad Game Design Than I Thought

I previously thought Halo Infinite was rife with hackers, based on the drastically different aiming and weapon performance between players. I still think there are a fair number of hackers running around, but it now seems that most of the discrepancies are really the result of poor coding and bad game design. Bullet magnetism and aim assist are inconsistent across, and within, inputs and platforms. Some people are playing with clean or even buffed aiming , others are playing with thoroughly unintuitive and frustrating mechanics.

I don’t have any specific feedback to give here. I just wanted to express my mild amazement that 343i could spend half a decade working on a shooter and still manage to have the shooting all but broken on release. I assumed people were hacking because I couldn’t imagine that the base mechanics were that poorly designed, but it seems I was giving 343i too much credit.
