FERO =/= Halsey. So, is it Ilsa Zane?

Alright, Waypointers. Some of my m8s at the Halo Archive had been suspecting this, so I’ve taken the liberty to share it here in the event that it has not already been introduced:

As you may have heard, the latest episode of Hunt the Truth has kindly revealed to us all that FERO is not, in fact, Halsey. That being said, among the other possibilities of empowering female characters that have a justified hatred of the Office of Naval Intelligence, the first one who works into my brainspace is Ilsa Zane.

Zane was first introduced in Halo: Initiation. She, a survivor of the original Spartan IV augmentees, had developed a passionate hatred/grudge against the UNSC/ONI. She would eventually lead an NCA attack against the UNSC Infinity, nearly destroying the ship, but was then ejected into the vacuum of space. However, because of her augmentations (complain all you want, it still makes sense), she survived exposure to the vacuum and was recovered by NCA forces. Her fate following Initiation remains unknown.

So, since Halsey is not FERO, who else is succumbing to the presumption that Ilsa Zane is the woman behind the voice changer?

She could, but I was kinda hoping that the universe would just sorta forget about her and let her fade into ambiguity.

Alsi, it never explicitly states who captured her.

I don’t have as much HALO knowledge of some on here… but what’s the chances that FERO is Cortana?

It would answer why FERO has access to all the goodies she is leaking out there… So, how about it?

FERO = Cortana

Except that that’s impossible. She’s already confirmed to be a rebel leader of sorts.

It’s a nice theory, just a couple of things:
-It is not stated that the prowler that rescues her is from the NCA, Halo Wiki goes as far as to say it is an ONI prowler, while halopedia doesn’t say anything.
-Her name is Ilsa, not Isla(i had to say it, sorry)

See, that’s why I was just saying. I don’t know anything about her being a rebel leader of sorts… if she is a rebel leader, is she trying to start a civil war? Sorry if I’m asking stuff that’s already been confirmed on debunked, I was into the early books, so I could be a bit behind.

Thinkin maybe I need to catch up on some reading.

Perhaps. I’m not exactly sure what happened due to not having yet read Initiation. All that I say is based off memory-distorted knowledge picked up over my many moons on forums.

CRAP.

And, Cortana is dead.

(Wait a second, have we met before? Lol)

In a post I put a while ago I suggested Zane as a possibility but didn’t think she had the skills to hack ONI…Maybe I was wrong…

The actress who plays FERO does bare resemblance to Ilsa… I think you may be right

Oh my. That would be sad. And yes, I got that reference.

I think it makes sense from a Universe perspective, but I am already way too overhyped about H5 to even imagine fighting a rogue Spartan IV in Halo 5. Can’t even think about it. Can’t think about it. Can’t think about… ANYTHING ELSE! Darn you, Andycu5!

You forgot to mention that the augmentations drove her insane. So to clarify she is Smart, Hates the UEG and is possibly the physically strongest spartan there is.

Well, she is the physically strongest. She’s stronger without armor than a Spartan IV in armor. It’s just that she is an absolutely terrible character,

This theory about “FERO” being Ilsa Zane, actually holds merit. Great work!

> “FERO”, a unknown female Insurrectionist leader, who is leaking highly classified information around the human colonies; is attempting to create chaos and confusion against the Unified Earth Government. She is currently spreading slanderous and provocative news about the Master Chief, Earth’s most renown hero, while also, assisting the former section-II journalist, Benjamin Giraud, with his investigation into his origins.

Could “FERO” be more nefarious than we actually anticipated… Is she truly helping Benjmain Giraud hunt the truth, or is she using Ben for her own ulterior motives?

Similarities between “FERO” and Ilsa Zane…

  • Ilsa Zane and “FERO” share a loathing for the Office of Naval Intelligence, United Nations Space Command and Unified Earth Government.- Ilsa Zane and “FERO” being Insurrectionist leaders, hate the Spartans, who were designed to counter insurgency in the colonies.- Ilsa Zane and “FERO” are both Insurrectionists.- The visual depiction of Ilsa Zane and the voice actor of “FERO” look similar.
