This article I was reading on Female Soldiers in Combat got me thinking, Do female Spartans go through a menstrual cycle? I mean somewhere in the Halo verse there’s a female spartan who started her own family and the Spartan in Nightfall had a kid. So they don’t neuter the Spartans.
But for a female to have children her body has to make eggs via the menstrual cycle and when she’s on her period the body becomes weaker and its like they become abit more emotional, not sappy, it can be anger or whatever.Point is they’d lose focus. I love the female Spartans, not dissing them or hating, just curious of how they’re bodies are able to do what they do and still kick butt

> Well, it is more than 500 years from now. They probably have some drugs that prevent these reactions.
True, but birth control can only so much though lol
Theres enhancements for your bodies like augmentations for making a body stronger but turning off the female bodies activities yet it still functions makes me really curious
I bet they have some sort of switch, that they can come off and on of it. Probably during service they turn all of that off because things like hair, sweat, and other bodily functions can seriously impact an operation if it extends 18 hours. I know Spartans can stay awake for days at a time with no draw backs, so that could imply other things.
The birth control pills we have now supress menstrual cycle to the point where actual periods are few and far between. And thats with the relatively crude hormonal methods.
Yeah, menstrual cycle is no longer a problem in Halo universe.
IV’s dint get the “suppressed sexual drive augmentation”…
As for for the II’s… there are 2-3 groups of halo fans on that subject…
1 group says that they can’t feel love…
1 group says they can feel love, but have no sexual lusts… (reduced -Yoink!- drive)
and the other group says that it only HAS a chance that it will cause a reduced sexual drive.
I tend to believe the that it’s the “chance” one, because In “fall of reach” (last time I read it at least) it clearly says it “only has a CHANCE too”… that and we have CANON evidence of spartan II’s forming families… Why this is not better understood and so prevalent to not be seen in this community is beyond me.
IN regards to the menstrual cycle… Female marines in Boot camp tend to skip their periods, because their exercise is so freaking intense. I believe this would probably also happen with spartan females. We also have 0 evidence of spartan females ever having these problems.
But they can still have kids… and stuff. Because we have canon of evidence of that. So… ya… I would reach the conclusion that they could still have them, but they work out to much… or maybe they could be on some regular diet… I would not put it past the UNSC to give them stuff in their food or something… all purely theoretical at this point…

They’re bodies are able to do what they do and still kick butt because they’re highly-disciplined supersoldiers trained to fight through discomfort. If Kelly can suffer from a lacerated liver and collapsed lung or Vinh from several broken bones and torn muscles yet continue to fight without complaining or major decreases in combat effectiveness, then I’m certain they can handle cramps as well.

It’s certainly a different ball game man lol
im not a woman but it’s different when your body is changing inside you and your hormones/chemistry is destroying you from the inside. My GF gets pretty chill periods but she tells me her aunt has very painful cycles

But your GF’s aunt probably doesn’t walk around with broken bones or lacerated organs, does she…? If you think Spartans can brush off life-threatening injuries, but wouldn’t be able to deal with a normal bodily cycle (something that normal female soldiers today have to deal with) you’re probably mistaken.

That not the point. The point is theres a difference in training to tolerate pain from an injury and dealing with hormonal chemical reactions that affect everything in your body. It’s a completely different ballgame.

So are you saying that normal female soldiers can function while dealing with their period, but female Spartans can’t?
In the second(?). Kilo tryoligie book when Mal and Vaz entered the armory where Naomi is putting her armor on Deveraux said :No word she (Naomi)is in the pre meno pause and I (Deveraux)have Pms.
So female spartan has a period.
