I have always found it wrong when someone said that Halo 4 feels like Halo, based on all the different features that Halo 4 offers, but I soon realised after repeatedly watching the tiny bit of gameplay that was shown that what they’re saying isn’t wrong. The game, when played, will play, for the most part, like Halo should. The controls (I assume) will feel correct, your guns will shoot correct, and your plasmas will still stick to someone and kill them. However, the game is not going to be like Halo in a sense that won’t be noticed while playing. The people playing notice the most prominent aspects, like controls, the way guns shoot, and how grenades work. Unless they sit down and think about what really makes Halo then they won’t realize that what they say is wrong. The forums are full of people who think about what makes Halo and what does’t make it. People need to agree that Halo 4 will be be Halo when playing it. It will never be Halo when you’re not in a game and can notice what is wrong
No, I think that people need to realise that ‘what makes Halo’ can change… but people don’t want it to because we are naturally scared of change.
That’s true but at the same tIme for different people at different times change can be seen as good or bad. If you are looking at the future, then you are most likely going to have more time to think about whatever is going to happen and what could be good or bad about it.

True, we have time to think about whether the changes in Halo 4 will be good or bad, my point is that most people automatically go for bad because like I said we are generally offset by change. I’m currently withholding myself from even trying to judge this game and will most likely continue to do so until I play it. (which could be at Eurogamer in September… fingers crossed!)
That’s true. Also, I think that people will only be afraid while they have time to be afraid.
I see Halo multiplayer like this:
I spawn. Go for nearby weapons that may help me more than my current weapons. Rush for power weapons. Take map control. Repeat until the score limit is hit, or the time runs out.
Sprinkle in a few kills and deaths and it sounds like Halo to me. I jump higher than an NBA superstar, use grenades to help get kills and use situation awareness to keep myself alive for as long as possible. With sprint as default, I feel it’ll work better in the long run with the devs not needing to tweak the maps to work with and without them at one time.
All in all, I think this will be more polished than Reach. In Reach, a little time for adjustment from the old control scheme in Halo 3 to the new one in Reach, and a little time in Forge World to get acquainted to new weapons and vehicles was all I needed to get back into fighting shape. I feel I’ll end up doing it again with Halo 4…except with the ability to sprint in mind.
What lots of people don’t realise is that a lot of bungies designers moved to 343. Also 343 realises what makes halo good and what lots of people want but not everyones going to be happy.

False. There is only 3 bungie people

now look, reach did not feel like halo,it was no halo game anymore
and 343 keeps pushing halo to a class based game away from its arena style

Change is definitely great, but not the sort of change that fans of the series would get ticked over about.

It’s perfectly natural to worry about change. But giving it a chance is a good gesture of overcoming the fear.

All the people who’ve played it and given their impressions so far have a biased opinion. We won’t know how it truly feels until it is released and the general population gets their hands on it.

actually there are four from bungie
Frankie, Shiska, Vic, and Patrick Gillete

A constant arguement. However, through Halo CE, 2 & 3, movement, bloom, power ups stayed the same. These became adopted as a general “Halo” feel.
Therefore, your argument is incorrect.

> Whether it feels like Halo is like Halo is subjective, as I’m sure you know. However, if it feels like Halo, then it doesn’t matter if the gameplay looks like -yoink-ing Minesweeper in a description if it feels like Halo when you play it.

> What I’m trying to say is, the feel is feel, not a description. When I play a game I don’t sit down afterwards and decide whether or not I like.

But the thing is, Halo didn’t change. Halo’s combat is what makes it unique, and strafing, aiming, high jump height and fast movement speed are all there. Reach didn’t feel like Halo because of this; jump height was lowered, movement speed was lowered, strafing was unresponsive, and auto-aim and bloom made aiming easier/rely on luck. All of this has been restored in Halo 4, so to me, and a lot of other people, this will feel like Halo.

Who cares about ex-bungie staff when they found some really good people in their rank based on the 343I Halo Nation wikia
