If it’s ‘only a visor’, what’s the big deal? Ignore it.
I’m happy to inform the pissed off weekly challenge goers of this thread that the ultimate reward visor is going to be handed out like candy from November 23rd to November 30th to anyone who loads up the game. They felt bad about resetting everyone’s challenges, and so they gave us a present.
FOMO is gone for this round. Curious what the next ultimate reward will be.
I’m currently at over 110 matchmade games and still haven’t unlocked the ultimate challenge (yet alone completed it).
I’m close so would like to do it for the achievement even though everyone is getting the visor for free now.
I still need 11 gungoose kills, 10 gravity hammer kills and 3 oddball carrier kills.
I’m not even trying. This game is such a fail in that respect.
Some of the weekly challenges are awful. They’re entirely based on chance, rather than skill. Last weekend I got stuck on a challenge for winning 3 Total Control games. I had 2/3, but even though I played for the whole morning and part of the afternoon, I only managed to play two games of total control… one I lost and one I tied.
I got so frustrated and so tired of playing BTB that I eventually swapped my challenge, which luckily was much less frustrating.
So, yeah, 343i, even though you promised to not weaponize FOMO in order to keep us engaged, that’s exactly what you did, pushing ridiculous challenges specific to some game types that rarely ever appear.
Someone shared a link to a now deleted Inside Infinite post on here that I thought was pretty relevant to this discussion.
It was Inside Infinite December 2020 (but the site keeps telling me there’s an error when I try to read it.)
I really wish they could just make the capstone/ultimate reward challenge unlocked from the start of weekly reset - this would remove the grind for FOMO as everyone could start working on it straight away rather than having to clear nearly impossible challenges first.
Ryan Paradis:
- Healthy engagement is paramount. We want everyone to play the game in a healthy manner that they enjoy. We’re not trying to build a grind-machine that burns everyone out in an attempt to get more game time from them. Halo Infinite needs to be a place where we all look forward to spending time.
- We maintain a player-first focus. Think of all the games we’ve all played that have random rewards, ask people to play a way they hate just for a new shiny, or weaponize FOMO against the player. There will be limited-time events, but we don’t want to turn free time into a chore. We’re not all about that. Everyone should enjoy their time in Halo Infinite.
I also had the destroy 5 Warthogs challenge.
Don’t bother using rockets as you will not blow the vehicle up with a single shot, what you will end up doing is killing the occupants but the vehicle will survive and you wont get progress.
I found the Heatwave (Horizontal config) worked great as if you focus on shooting the vehicle (not the occupants) you can shred the Warthog real fast and make it explode netting you both the kills and the vehicle destroyed message.
Its easy to do too as Heatwave is very common in most maps.
Thats how I completed that challenge.
Give it a try.
Probably- I usually get the PvP challenges on MCC within the 7 games. If I don’t I walk away and think I’ll do better next week.
Congrats on being swindled. You realize by supporting them this way you’re encouraging more of it. Their plan worked perfectly on you, and I hope the shame you feel will stop you from supporting these garbage practices in the future.
Boy, don’t get me started on that stupid “Destroy 5 warthogs challenge”.
So, good luck even trying this one if you’re not playing BTB. Even if you are, you have to be lucky enough to find an enemy warthog at the same time that you have weaponry that can reliably destroy that vehicle – and yeah, I got beyond mad when they didn’t count that time I used rockets and killed the occupants instead of destroying the vehicle. But there is more: the enemy occupants can just leave the warthog a second before it’s destroyed, and them the vehicle will not be outlined as an enemy warthog anymore, and it won’t count for the challenge!
I didn’t have an issue with enemies jumping out of the Warthog thankfully, as I mentioned previously on BTB at the very start the enemy team will very likely have a Warthog rush to your base. Heatwave spawns in the bases or close to them on most maps and that thing shreds Warthogs with ease. I cant recall the exact amount of shots but it can destroy Warthogs fast and reliably.
Still an annoying challenge for sure.
