Hey everyone! Thought I’d chime in and give my personal feedback on the Warthog and Mongoose, on a few aspects: Gameplay, Handling, Visual, and Audio
----------- Gameplay-----------
-
It would be nice to be able to hit the driver with melee when jumping on the passenger seat of an enemy Warthog. - Suggested by kkolossal - When you’re a passenger in the Warthog, you’re unable to swap weapons and the Swap weapons hotkey seems to be forced to Swap Seats.
----------- Handling -----------
Okay, so let’s start with the Elephant (or rather, Warthog/Mongoose?) in the room.
Warthog & Mongoose:
-
Increase the rear-end/axle’s resistance to drift, and decrease their overall lateral traction to give them a sense of “off-roadiness” (although good straight line traction would make lots of sense for the Warthog since it’s probably AWD). They currently behave too much like a karting on pavement rather than military vehicles. - In my opinion increasing the mass/weight on both vehicles would be good, as they bounce around and flip too easily, especially on jumps.Warthog:
-
I would also increase the suspension rebound and limits a bit so that it feels a bit bouncier (but NOT TOO MUCH) and weighty.Mongoose:
-
Follow-up point on increasing the mass, I feel like the Mongoose albeit light, should feel stable. Right now it feels as if you could go out flying to the stratosphere when going over a bump :D_----------- Audio -----------_
Audio-wise I feel like both vehicles were pretty good, I initially disliked the Warthog engine sound but it sort of grew on me. Maybe it could use a bit more V6 or V8 growl and some sort of electric motor assist sound effect to give it a higher-tech vibe (kind of like F1 ERS wheezing sound or a Electric Car Motor)
----------- Visual -----------
Visually I’ve always preferred the Bungie-era Warthog, as it felt more futuristic and Sci-Fi looking, however given that we will have Vehicle Cores I feel like it would be an excellent idea to have a Halo Reach/CE era Warthog Core!
Those are my thoughts.
