Agree. TOGGLE KILL EFFECTS PLEASE! Just like 343 has a Toggle for Visual Effects because some people are harmed by flashing imagery or are just annoyed.
P.S. We already have to deal with player gloating after a kill (e.g. humping/teabagging/overkilling dead body). Now we have to suffer stupid flashing graphics and noise? If the player wants to see/hear everytime, fine. But don’t force it on others.
I can agree that some of the sounds are really “off” when it comes to the experience and being in the zone while hearing some goofy sfx can throw you off. I believe a toggle for this option would be an amazing idea. Same with walking effects./trails.
Oh my god yes. I can’t tell you how much I hate seeing those stupid running/step effects. They’re just so stupid and pointless other than to SELL DIGITAL GOODS.
Since some of these effects had to be purchased to obtain. Allowing a toggle to disabled would undermine the value of the item. So they’ll probably not give an option to toggle it because of that.
They may still alter it if enough complain though. Maybe adjust the pitch perhaps?
A toggle option needs to happen asap. It’s bs that slme random dude from around the world can control how my character ‘dies’ in that much sense. We shouldn’t be forced to endure it.
This being said I also would like a toggle for all non canon customisation. Some of us play Halo for a military scia fi shooter, not a Fortnite clone.
Except the ones in Reach were not as garish. A quick little confetti pop or floating hearts in a tiny space is much less invasive than a giant green power rangers wolf popping up on your screen and a howling sound.
Plus as mentioned, it’s letting someone else control your player per se, while the Reach effects were chosen by the player they actually affected.
I’ve tried turning off the various audio and visual effects, but they don’t turn off Kill Effects.
To clarify, I don’t care if another player wants to pay $$$ or time to obtain Kill Effects or motion armor etc as long as only THEY see it, not other players (or at least give all players an option to turn it on/off).
For me, I’m trying to learn the game and it makes it difficult to see my mistake / how I died / who killed me when a giant flaming skull and crazy sounds take up the screen & audio. I have no idea what happened. It adds no value and DECREASES the playability and enjoyment for me.
I hope this isn’t a ploy where 343 introduce “Block Kill Effects” for just $9.99 in the next release…
P.S. Some players are physically/mentally susceptible to flashing and that is one reason why 343 has toggles for the other game visual effects…
A toggle wouldn’t really undermine the value of the item because if you’re the person who has purchased it you’re still going to see that effect every time you get the kill, but the person dying isn’t going to be forced to watch it.
Think of it like this, my neighbor has purchased an expensive car and at the end of every day they park their expensive car in my garage and I don’t have a choice on whether or not they do that. I don’t want their car in my garage because it’s my garage, but it gets parked in there anyway.
Someone has purchased a thing and it is being forced into my face whether I want it or not. That’s exactly how these kill effects work. It is innately unappealing to whoever it is being forcibly applied to upon death.
That’s what I was saying is the difference between Reach’s death effects and Infinite’s kill effects. The death effects in Halo Reach are one final player expression in the end. Halo infinite kill effects are a forced cosmetic upon your death which is already not a great moment so it’s compounding unhappy feelings from multiple things which just makes it worse.
A lot of people buy stuff to be flashy for not only themselves, but to showcase it upon others. It would undermine it if you knew most people wouldn’t be able to see it actually.
Or, and I know that this is pretty complicated, they might just mean a toggle for the single thing they’re asking for a toggle for.
I agree that there are those in the community who’ve gone a bit overboard asking for toggles for literally every imaginable detail and I don’t agree with that sentiment.
But at least to me, there’s a pretty clear difference between demanding a toggle for seeing cat ears and glow effects on other players (who chose to equip them to express themselves) vs asking if a toggle can be introduced so players won’t have to see/hear effects that they don’t appreciate or enjoy on their own Spartan.
It’s not a dealbreaker either way for most players asking for it, it’s just something that would enhance our experience with Infinite.
