I would like to give a piece of feedback to 343. It’s the only thing I’ve actually bothered to take the time to make a post about.
Please add the option to toggle off Kill effects. The effects and their sounds (flame head death, wolf howl, green matrix style stuff etc) all feel very goofy and immersion-breaking for me. Even with the existence of colourful armour and diverse fracture cores, armour effects etc, the kill effects are very unappealing.
Please add the option of toggling off kill effects and their sounds.
Yeah, it would be nice to have a toggle on a few things in multiplayer such as kill effects & AI chatter, maybe even a RvB toggle for accessibility purposes.
Totally agree with this. MCC has that option to hide all the skins for the guns just do the same for armor and kill affects. They could even make it so if you want the flaming helemt to stay on you can do so and while at the same time turn off the kill effects.
They don’t even proc properly. I’ve noticed I’ll hear the wolf or broken glass and see no visual effects. I’d like a toggle personally. They’re for the killer to enjoy, not the fallen Spartan.
I’ve kind of accepted that there will be little to no toggles for wacky cosmetics in this game, but I do think a toggle for Kill Effects would be really nice. They’re pretty obnoxious and I don’t like the added sound effects either.
Allow the player to go out on their terms, not be forced to see something every time they die. Nobody likes being killed several times and constantly hearing a wolf howl.
A lot of people complained about the death effects in reach because it was distracting to the person getting the kill. But that’s the thing, it gave the player that died one last expression. “Ha ha you killed me, now enjoy a screen of confetti!”. Now it’s “Ha ha you died now be forced to watch my kill animation!”. The difference is who’s in control of the expression. Kill effects remove your choice of expression and instead forces you to see something. It takes away YOUR CONTROL OVER YOUR CHARACTER.
That is literally the worst thing you can do to a player. Anyone who has played D&D knows this. You should never remove player choice or force a player to do something they don’t want to do.
I agree that there should at least to be some toggles to disable or enable kill effects. For the people who have them and enjoy them - more power to ya. I know there’s quite a number who do with how many times I pick up their weapons and use them. But for some like myself who doesn’t even add Kill Effects to their weapons, I’d rather do without seeing them.
It’s a bit annoying that everyone has the wolf effect going. Understandable given it’s new… but it does get a bit repetitive.
I like the breaking glass one.
At the very least it’s an incentive to die less.
But overall they just blend into the game. I guess my focus quickly switches. I tend to use my respawn time to read something. Play a couple of chords on the piano (it’s set up beside the xbox). Stand up for a few seconds. Gulp a drink. Etc.
I guess it distracts me from a few microseconds of sound and graphics.
As long as it doesn’t effect the person who is using the effects it’ll be fine. We’ll see, since the decision is ultimately up to 343i and no one elses…
I don’t even know how a lot of things for this game were even approved. The quality of Halo has really gone down hill.
Hell, the sound effect and visual effects in this game is vary poor quality. I tried playing a couple of BTB last night after 5 months of not playing, and I couldn’t stand playing more then 3 games that I had to shut it off.
Infinite needs a major overhaul.
Edit: The truth behind all of this is that 343 doesn’t care about quality work that it literally shows throughout the entire game. That is a fact that not even 343 ore 343’s fan base can hide. Now when I say 343 I’m referring to the higher-ups, and this goes all the way to the top Microsoft.
That’s the huge difference between the original Bungie that were gamers that actually cared about the work they produced. Todays “Halo” is ran by people that look at the player base as a number, not as a customer. That alone is a major problem with infinite and until that is worked out to were it benefits the player base, nothing will really change that will improve things for the player base…
