Feedback on Challenge system

Summary: 1. I really like Halo Infinite’s multiplayer and have really enjoyed the Tenrai and Cyber Showdown events. 2. The challenge system as it stands is negatively impacting my game engagement.

Really liked the capstone bulldog skin this week but realized due to real life / other games I would have to grind out 30 games in the next two days, mostly in game modes I really don’t want to play. As I result I won’t bother.

Issues;

  1. Game mode specific challenges - I don’t like FFA as I queue split screen with my family members for 95% of game play, tactical slayer is not fun on rural internet.

  2. Need to fish for CTF / Oddball / Strongholds in Quick Play and getting Slayer multiple times in a row due to RNG.

  3. Challenge swaps exhausted at battlepass level 100 because of big team battle challenge issues.

  4. Generally I have really enjoyed the event specific game modes - I like Attrition and Fiesta better than normal Slayer, so when I am forced to play non-event game modes in order to unlock more event challenges I tend to choose to play a different game rather than grind it out. (I really dislike FFA, getting 5000 cumulative score in that mode not going to happen).

Suggested solutions:

  1. Remove playlist specific challenges.
    2.1. Re-tune objective based challenges to be easier to complete and expand to other playlists other than Quick Play - I.e inclusion of Fiesta CTF or Fiesta Oddball.

2.2. Remove Slayer from Quick Play - we already have a team slayer playlist it just makes it harder to complete objective game mode challenges. I don’t think it counts for Team Slayer challenges despite being exactly the same gameplay.

  1. Add a post battlepass progression system for continuing to earn swaps to remove the offending challenges, i.e. a swap every 2000 xp like in the pass.

  2. During events ALL challenges should be possible (but not mandatory) to complete in the event playlist.
