I keep seeing this quote from 343 in articles around the web:
“Lastly, due to your feedback over the past few weeks, we’ll be moving the Halo: CE playlist to 2v2 when it launches.”
Due to WHOSE feedback?! I’m calling shenanigans on this and I want some support here.
As a dude in his 30’s who should have way more to concern himself with this morning, I am instead trying to think if anyone I’ve met in my history of playing Halo: CE prefers 2v2 Battle Creek CTF, 2v2 anything Blood Gulch or Sidewinder, 2v2 Prisoner, Hang’em High, Damnation, Chill Out, Wizard to the wildly popular, competitive 4v4.
My plea… this playlist needs to be 4v4, or at minimum there ought to be different playlists to satisfy what every nostalgic Halo:CE fan has been waiting for with this release. Having been teased that after 10+ years of yearning for online Halo:CE this would be the answer. It’s not, 343, and it’s beyond frustrating. RSVP
I would totally agree. 2v2 is OK on a few levels but any ctf or almost any objective based game is better with 4 unless you are on a really small map. I think I would be more OK with it being 2v2 if Halo CE ever came up in the team slayer or big team battle playlist. I’ve gotten into about 6 games so far and Halo CE hasn’t even been on option in 3 of them and the other 3 it has been outvoted.
I got this game to play Halo CE mainly, because I’ve never been able to play it online and with no dedicated playlist I’m not sure I’ll be able to play it. I understand that it’s hard to please everyone and there can’t be 800 playlists, but the people who really enjoyed 4v4 or bigger games on CE are totally out of luck. Won’t be in the playlist and I am very skeptical it’ll ever get voted for in BTB or TS.
A 4v4 CE playlist would probably be my favorite. 2v2 sounds really small for the bigger maps. If netcode is the issue, I wonder why they have it working in the other playlists.
For me, 2v2 was all I played on Halo 1, but I’m all for 4v4 as well. IMO get rid of these dumb playlists all together. Why are they there? How is limited freedom remotely next gen? I should be able to browse open lobbies, or let me specifically queue whatever the hell I want. Whether that be 2v2, 4v4 or whatever, instead of being limited by what the developers make available. I’m getting so tired of consoles and their -Yoink- servers, -Yoink- 60 FPS, and out-dated matchmaking. This -Yoink- isn’t hardly next-gen it’s out-dated as hell.
I’m with you guys, I did not buy this game to play Halo 2. I bought this game to play 4v4 5v5 6v6 8v8 Halo CE. Why isnt there a playlist at all for it yet??!?! There are a million halo 2 exclusive playlists and I still have to play Halo 2 just to have a shot at playing Halo CE. I JUST WANT TO PLAY HALO CE.

I agree, I dont particularly enjoy getting lied to. Its clearly a farce, there is nobody out there asking for 2v2. Everyone wants at least 8 people on those CE maps.
