Feedback for the Tech Preview 2 Outcome

343i released the Tech Preview 2 outcome wich they showed, what the conclusions are after the second flight. Let’s see what we as a community can tell 343i about it, to improve even more the game (don’t get me wrong i’m excited for Infinite, but more improvement is never wrong)

First of all i’m glad to see some of the important Stuff being adressed. 343i listen to a good amount of the feedback. But some things was not adressed enough or was not mentioned by 343i:

Combat Sensor

  • Positive: Combat Sensor range increased from 18m to 22m (for BTB)

  • Positive: Height indication was present in the flight but not recognized from everyone (i recognized it but aftert playing a few hours)

  • Feedback: Combat sensor range should also increased for Arena imho. 18m maybe sound like a lot, but it isn’t tbh.

Arena

  • Positive: The bug that allowed vehicles to push Flags, is fixed for launch.
  • Feedback: Some people want the Flag to kill in one melee. I think it would be a good change.

BTB

  • Positive: Jeff Steitzer will return! Not on launch but at least he will come back, great news.

  • Positive: According to 343i: “Chopper and Wraith, that weren’t available in the flight that will help further flesh out this vehicle story in each match” I don’t know if they mean, they will be availabe at the start of a match or at least not in the last seconds of a match, if yes, that would be really cool imho.

  • Feedback: 343i said: “we believe the progression of power as better and better vehicles spawn in allows for the end of matches to feel like bigger moments”
I think more of the big vehicles should be available. At least at the start of the match some scorpions and banshees would help to get more “bigger moments”. I think a lot of the players would appreciate that change.

Aiming

  • Positive: The devs recognized that aiming felt for A LOT of people bad

  • Positive?: 343i said this: “we’ve made minor changes to the “cone angle” of aim assist on select weapons for launch. To be clear, this is not a change of the “strength/stickiness” of the aim assist, but it should help make aiming feel more natural” ← That counts for some weapons like the BR, VK78, Skewer, S7, MK50 and other weapons. I don’t know if that change the strange feeling the aim. Because even with good perfomance (120fps and g-sync working) microadjustments felt bad, and it felt that it has nothing to do with bad perfomance.

  • Feedback: I think we have to play it first to make a proper conclsuion. If the microadjustments still feels bad, or other problems with aiming, we have to tell 343i as fast as possible.

Weapons

  • Positive: Nerfing the Commando is nice, i guess? According to stats, it really had a really fast TTK. What are you guys think?

  • Feedback: 343i didn’t mentioned that a lot of the players complained about the range of the AR. This was by far the most discussed topic about weapon balancing. I think the damage is fine, but the AR was too effective on range. On Arena it was too easy to dominate with the AR. I never had to change it for another gun, wich was a little bit lame after a while.

Movement

  • Positive: The implementation of sprint, climber and slide was not bad, it felt like a good mix of older Halo in combinations with that “newer” mechanics

  • Feedback: Some people want a little bit slower strafe speed. Some gunfights felt a bit too hectic because of that. I think we can get used to it, but i would don’t mind it, if 343i reduces it a tiny bit.

Feel free to add more topics to discuss if you want. I just posted the things that concern me the most. Thx for reading.

I’m concerned they didn’t mention anything about Sprint speed.

There was a lot of good information though.

I think their fixes are ok, but there are a lot more issues than just those few.

As far as the AR goes I really like the way it handled and the damage. Having a good automatic that can compete against other weapons is very accessible for older gamers that are experiencing arthritis and still enjoy gaming. People with limited hand movement or have pain really benefit from automatics. I would think all the hardcore people that play claw now would appreciate the AR now, because that arthritis can sneak right up on people not using their hands in ergonomic ways.

I just never liked the look of the reach AR. I like the regular one better.

The only thing that was good about Halo infinite was the faster TTK but now they are slowing it down to Halo 3 levels and that just sucks . As a CE player this slow as butt TTK is boring and i might as well play another shooter and that was the main reason i quit halo for years in the first place.

First i want to say, everybody has difference experiences so everybody has different opinions (i don’t claim my opinions have their origin in greatness)

I think the big majority likes the TTK. If it’s closer to Halo 3 rather than CE or 5, will be recieved as a really good thing by a lot of the people and fanbase.

One of the reasons Halo was so beloved. is a slower TTK than other Shooters. Close to all shooter have a really fast TTK (BF, CoD, CS, Hell let loose, the list goes on) In these days Infinite can stand out more than ever before wich i believe is a great thing and the main reason i (and a lot of other fans) want to play it, because all the shooters feels too simular because of the fast TTK.

Where in the world are you getting this conclusion? Since when did Infinite have Halo 3 TTK?

I generally agree. I think the devs are doing a great job addressing issues and I really like these direct responses in the outcomes posts. Two big things I think need to be addressed that weren’t though…

#1. Radar size is not just a “didn’t like it; felt too small” thing. It’s an accessibility issue. I have severe hearing problems, not to mention a noisy house, and that amounts to me not being able to hear most audio cues in the game, especially subtle ones like footsteps. The old radar, at 25m at minimum, allowed me to tell when someone was walking up behind me as easily as other players hear footsteps. Now, I find myself realizing there’s someone there too late, very often. A larger radar UI will help with this, but seriously, a 25m radar needs to come back. This is one of the reasons I always liked Halo over other games; in other games I have no idea what’s going on half the time. Halo has always allowed me to really play a type of game I couldn’t experience otherwise, and radar was a massive part of it. I really want to see them bring back the radar the way it used to be.

#2. They didn’t say anything addressing the poor visual cues for vehicle damage. Right now, I can barely tell when a part of the vehicle gets damaged while I’m driving or riding in the vehicle. From the outside it’s easier, but while operating the vehicle it is sometimes very difficult to see. I know there was also a bug that prevented the damage from showing, but even beyond that, I feel like the damage is just not visually obvious, and it should be very clear. Especially the doomed state; there should be a giant fireball on the vehicle, smoke and super obvious effects to tell everyone “Hey, this thing is gonna explode.” Right now, it’s a subtle red glow that only get obvious enough to see when it’s too late. As I said before, audio cues don’t work for me, so I’d really like to see better visual cues about vehicle damage.

Thanks for the great support work 343; hope to see more of this in the future.

When they began nerfing guns like making them take more shots to kill changing the range and spread of the AR in the flight.

No it wasnt Halo 2 was beloved because CE wasnt online to -Yoink!- at the developers to nerf every weapon into the ground and make them useless.

Halo 2 was really good. But for me and and all my friends, Halo 3 MP was the most fun of all Halo MP’s. And it’s the most played Halo MP of all titles.

I. Bring back player collision. It seems very evident from forums, polls, Twitter, etc. that most people do not support removing it, myself included.

II. The Plasma Pistol needs to be able to EMP vehicles, or else its only purpose in the sandbox is being part one of the Noob Combo. No thank you.

III. AR outperforms the Sidekick too easily at all ranges, didn’t see this addressed.

IV. Armor coatings should be patterns that are color customizable, rather than locked to a given color scheme. Players will be less unique and have reduced individual expression with the current system.

The range and spread of the AR isn’t changed?
The Commando now takes1 extra bullet.

These do not = Halo 3 TTK.

The reviews are in even the big game reviewers feel all the guns have been nerfed.
