Feedback for the Game Developers

To the Dev Team,

Thanks a bunch. As an avid fan of the Halo series, I have been trying for years to learn how to grenade jump so I can collect the Bandanna Skull. I haven’t succeeded even once.

Next time you develop a game, you might want to consider that not all gamers are wizened nerds with distended thumbs and lightning-fast reflexes. I have a disability that interferes with my hand-eye co-ordination as well as co-ordination in general, and usually I can get by. There’s generally enough room for error in the games I play that I can over- or under-control slightly and get away with it.

However, in the case of grenade-jumping, too much precision is required for me to overcome my disadvantage. And you just had to tie an achievement to the collection of all the Skulls, didn’t you?

I don’t know how you do it - every Halo game, you manage to deliver an epically enjoyable game…and then screw it up in any one of a number of different ways at the very last second. I love RTS games, and I was delighted to hear that Halo Wars was being released - right up to the point where you had to put a TIME LIMIT on it. You couldn’t just let me have fun building the ultimate kick–Yoink- base, and then sally forth to wreak serious -Yoink–kickery on the Covenant? In Halo 4 and 5, you give us all these utterly cool weapon-customisation options, and then decree that they are only available for multiplayer? As I said before, I have a DISABILITY, so I don’t have the reflexes or co-ordination to go multiplayer.

So, should I have the fortune to meet one of the development team, I will shake you by the hand, thank you politely for the games and a storyline I have enjoyed for years…and deliver a nice, friendly kick in the nuts (if practicable) for the years of frustration you’ve put me through.

(Oh, and FYI, real soldiers take cover. Energy shields or not, nothing substitutes having a nice solid object in the way to absorb incoming fire. According to the storyline, the Spartans didn’t receive their armour until well AFTER they’d completed several live operations, so I’d bet CPO Mendez taught them to duck when people shot at them. This is not a reflex that goes away.)

This is a problem on your end. Many people know how to grenade jump including my self. You just need practise. Here I would suggest watching this. I’m sorry you have a disability, but the problem lies on your end. You might need to get a special controller such as the elite to help preform these jumps properly.
