Why have you shipped a half finished game? - Why did you change something that worked well to something rubbish?
The answer to 1. is fairly straight forward, and endlessly disappointing. A cynical decision was made to gate content available from the start in previous titles, behind a long, randomly resulting grind, OR let people skip that with microtran$action$.
This is also clearly the reason one of the most popular game modes – Big Team Battle (BTB) – wasn’t released to begin with, because then nobody would spend additional money to unlock access to weapons and vehicles in the shite that is Warzone.
The company might as well be rebranded to £4£ Industries
Hurry the -Yoink- up and release BTB and have access to weapons and vehicles as standard on the maps, not behind the req system.
The req system itself works fine ‘within’ a match. I like the idea of the more kills you get unlocking more powerful kit. I don’t like that I can’t then use that kit without having previously spent money or points on crappy booster packs.
Radar – what separated Halo from sprayfests like CoD was tactical radar use. The current incarnation of radar is a joke. People appear behind you from nowhere, and with no time to react before dying I might as well play CoD.
Not being able to save up for specific unlocks. Given I’ve already slated the concept of req booster packs, I understand given the money involved they are unlikely to go away, but at least put in a system of being able to spend your req points on specific items.
Infection, King of the Hill, Oddball – PUT THEM IN ALREADY
Terrible spawning – spawning in the middle of a firefight, or in front on the enemy team is not cool.
PvE in PvP - sucks balls, remove it. NO ONE wants to be killing crappy AI bosses in the middle of a fast paced FPS fight. This isn’t Alterac Valley.
Split screen – I’ve extensively played and owned every single Halo title (except ODST). A large amount of the fun I had was multiplayer campaign, and PvP in the same room with friends. I’ve not even entered campaign mode on Halo 5 because of its removal.
The matchmaking lobby – why have you removed all the functionality from previous Halos?! WHY?! I want to be able to browse the other players, their achievements, see what armour they are wearing, and which ones are using a mic!
Achievements – on the note of achievements, at least let them unlock some cool stuff (oh no, that might reduce microtransaction sales…)
Carnage report – let me see the damn medals I got!
Service tag – I’ve used the same three letter service tag since they first came out. WHY?!?!?! Have you locked them to four characters?!?! Make it three or four.
Asymmetric battlegrounds suck – you should attack AND defend in sequence, as part of a single battle.
I personally like everything about the game that is in it right now. It’s just missing some things. But a HUGE REQUEST I have is: DON’T MAKE CORTANA DIE EVIL!
She is Chief’s most trusted companion, and I’d hate to see her be terminated while she is still psycho. Let her go out on a good note. The whole plot for Halo 5 was fun, interesting, and entertaining, but I don’t think it would look good in the long run. Maybe something you could do is that, since Cortana was in fragments when the Didact’s ship was destroyed, perhaps the Cortana we see in Halo 5 is one of her rampant fragments, and Chief just has to either find the normal one or she is being held captive by the rampant Cortana. I mean, Sgt. Johnson’s last words were “Don’t let her go. Don’t ever let her go.”

So many of your points have either been known or are a pointless point (heh) because we know when we are getting something.
And I like the AI bosses in Warzone as do my friends.
Is there a reason why achievements should give you something? No.

Hit the nail on the head on some things. My biggest issue is the atrocious UI and the near useless radar.
They had over 3 years and yet it is almost barebones.
So, I have a major issue. I usually play warzone, but today my friend got the game and wanted me to play swat with him. I join, play the match like normal, then get to the results screen. A message pops up saying something about a banhammer, and that I’ve been banned until 3 30. Not sure if that’s 3:30 tonight, or March 30, as 343 can’t be bothered to put a semi-colon in it or state March 30. Either way, how did I get this stupide ban? I didn’t do anything except play their game. I know a lot of folks say that they don’t deserve their ban or whatever, but I have never gotten a ban on anything, and I’ve been playing xbox since the 360 first came out. Is this just some glitch or something? Does getting twice the amount of kills your second best player on your team now constitute a ban? So confused. I’ll check on it tonight a 4 ish. If I’m still banned, I’m done with this game. I don’t care much for the arena to begin with, prefer warzone, as its closer to big team battle anyways and has vehicles, but if I’m being locked out of a whole section of gameplay due to some technical issue on 343’s side, well, BO3 comes out tommorow, and I think I’ll trade this mess in for that mess. At least I don’t have to worry about random bans there. If anyone from 343 sees this, please investigate this issue. It might be too late for me, but someone else might suffer cause of this.
Okay update: The ban I got went away after resetting the console. So, I guess it was some kinda glitch. Anyways, if anyone gets a random ban, try resetting your console.

I can agree with the radar issue fully. Spawning is an issue in some arena types, especially SWAT. Service tag change is very annoying as I too have always used the same three characters. Carnage report and achievement unlocks aswell are something I miss.
That being said, I’m a fan of warzone, like a more epic invasion from Reach and like the REQ system and don’t have many other complaints.
Just in case there is someone going through this thread that hasn’t completed the campaign, I took the precaution to use the spoiler tags in my response.

This! It’s tearing me apart, I’ve played through the Halo 5 campaign like 3-4 times already with friends and it gets me every time. I went back and played Halo 4 a couple days ago, and it just made me so sad, I don’t want her to end like that.
Though this conversation might be deviating a little bit from the OP, I still had to give my two cents on this
I happen to agree that Halo 5 is not the kind of Halo i have been used to - and i really enjoyed Halo 4 as it happens, so I had no predisposed idea of what Halo 5 would be like after 343 made quite a good job of producing such a quality predecessor that was voted game of the year on IGN and other review sites (alas i know IGN are very inconsistent with their reviews!). The campaign in H5 is fairly weak, the multiplayer aspect really spot on. If they were to take the campaign quality of H4 and the multiplayer quality of H5, mixed together with a great story (getting rid of the AI characters too!), i think that would please a lot of Halo fans.
I agree that they have changed too much of the series with this new installment, and it is worrying that they are moving towards so much emphasis on multiplayer gaming, like every other developer/game these days, and releasing a very weak campaign. I appreciate that many people like the current campaign as it is, but for me it is no patch on the H4 campaign. The story was extremely poor; Locke is totally a CoD character and lacks anything meaningful to the game; after having played as the Chief in H4 we’re now playing him for 1/3 of the game; and for me what really got my goat is the length of the story - if you can call it that. It felt as if, just when we got close to Cortana, off she went and the game ended. I was like “WTF?!!”
Multiplayer isnt really my main reason for gaming, so i dont offer any views on something that doesnt affect me that much. But when you’re paying a high price for a game you expect some length and quality with it, especially for Halo. Frank O’Connor recently commented that “The reality is that length is a really weird metric because people play the game so differently…” Errr, no it’s not. If you had a 100 page book and a 200 page book, which would you say is longer? The game is a story, so it can be measured in much the same way. The difficulty levels are there to challenge you more, which will mean that the game will invariably take longer to complete - and there are gamerpoints for having acheived that milestone on a harder setting. Going off trying to collect every skull and read every bit of intel does not make the game longer in that sense, as those are side quests almost to the actual story. Sorry if people disagree with me, but i feel quite strongly over length of gameplay when you hear things like “…length is a really weird metric…”. That to me sounds like corporate speak for “we really couldnt be bothered with a meaningful campaign story”.
I think your first point is flawed and your second is opinion/speculation. The game is not half finished. That maybe a glass half empty approach. My glass half full approach would be that 343 continued to innovate with new features and modes and above all else, they are trying to add features that longtime series fans enjoy to innovate but also accomodate the series veterans.
I would like to make a suggestion for halo infinite and its forge mode. I like the ideas that Halo 5 Forge brought along, but I still feel the limitations of it and the round about ways to deal with things. I find it would be cool to have more weapon options with attachments etc, and would find it cool if you brought back map load outs and being able to customize them for Halo Infinite. This way you can build a “class system” in your maps and make play styles. The other thing is that I want to have a bigger feeling of freedom in forge, to shape the maps and truly create the maps I truly crave to do.
