Hey! They said they would give a no-sprint option! That’s a start at least . . . I really like that. And the run/sprint delta is being decreased while base speed is being increased . . . much nice.
And the RL is going back to the 2-barrel design. Awesome.
Only thing I was hoping to see but didn’t was the removal of the scoped accuracy bonus.
So the SPNKr is a legendary weapon. Nice
Edit: WOW…and a toggle option for sprint and spartan abilities in custom games. I am thoroughly impressed 343i.

When customs get finally a place in online match making via a custom games browser or something the like and Forge gets a nice significant level of improvement and expansion I might even find interest in H5’s multiplayer again in case it would provide the custom Halo MP experience I’ve been hoping for so long.
I am not sure though if increasing base movement and decreasing sprint speed is a good move or if it will eventually feel quite awkward to sprint when sprint speed is not really much faster than base movement.
I’m impressed by how much feedback they seemed to have processed to state these changes. Obviously we’ll know how deep it really goes with the final product, but to say they aren’t listening at this point seems pretty false.

Josh mentioned:
Reduce bonuses for automatic weapons in Smart-Link & w/ headshots
and
General tuning and bug fixing for all weapons
So, somewhere along those lines the accuracy will be tweaked for all weapons.
Also the Rocket Launcher will have a legendary design aka SPNKr and the regular rocket launcher that was in the beta. Much like the legendary sword aka Prophet’s Bane on Truth and then on Orion there was the energy sword.
I see a pattern happening with how 343i wants to do weapons this go around. They will offer power weapons then legendary power weapons that have a certain advantage over the similar latter. For example, Prophet’s Bane increased base movement speed over the Energy sword that didn’t. What will the SPNKr have over the Rocket Launcher? More ammo? It can lock onto vehicles? Increased blast damage? Faster rocket propulsion?
Either way I’m still very excited for Halo 5. 343i has talked the talk, now they just need to walk the walk.
Lots of fantastic feedback! I’m impressed with how much that the vocal crowd will be getting (and wonder if it will change their tone now that there is a compromise set by the devs), specifically noting:
-Rank, penalties for quitters, matchmaking considerations
-Callout options/toggles, as well as SA, Sprint toggles for customs, buffing the abilities, altering weapon views/animations for SS, and increasing base speed for the player
-Medals being de-emphasized
-The RL legendary and Hydra changes (as well as other addressed weapon balancing)
-Things touched upon already (halo bros, ground pound mapping for crouch jumps)
Seriously, the community that has been so far against 343 should at least acknowledge the effort they have shown in working for the fans is incredible. At the very least, even those still opposed to certain mechanics should be able to agree that the devs are compromising to make the best new Halo experience they can with what old fans want and what the beta was.

Seriously thought man Im so excited But who wants to bet it wont be enough to make them happy. Some people just like being mad about stuff. Its funny how many thing the Positive people said might happen is actually happening, Its great so excited
Damn, that is in-depth. Everything from the SPNKr to crouch jumping. Try starting a 343 doesn’t listen thread now!
Well, pretty much what I expected.
I was surprised that there is a toggle for SA’s, but that really is not as much of a ‘win’ as some might think. I don’t want to be forced into custom games or one classic/competitive gamemode just to play something that is Halo(ish)
Even then it doesn’t change the fact that the maps won’t be built for it and general matchmaking will be crap once again.
Its not as if I expected any real change, it just sucks to finally ‘see’ what you already know was going to happen. Sigh…
A final note: That 11% note without context is so deceptive, just wow.

They have to pull it off now before we can say they really listened right?

Like I said, we’ll know how deep it goes when we get the final game. Yet this seems to me that they haven’t chucked the community away like so many have claimed.

I hope so, though there are some things I personally would like an official answer/response to.

The context was very clearly stated as those who signed up for the program. No attempt was made to claim (or even imply) that it was 11% of the total fanbase.

Given how the question was actually worded in the survey and how certain people will abuse that stat is absolutely is. If they were going to be so vague about it they could have simply said “based on feedback we’ve decided to add a toggle for sprint and other SA’s”, and avoided the issue entirely, but no, they decided to use only one number without context of the rest.

They cannot be held responsible for others subsequently choosing to take the 11% out of context. Claiming that they provided the number without context (untrue) simply because you fear that others at some undefined point in the future will take it out of context is entirely wrong.
Sorry, dude, but you’re way off base here.

They aren’t just toggling the feature - they are altering the vase speed, sprint speed, and effectively decreasing the delta (difference).
How is this out of context? If everything listed in the blog points to everything you “knew” would happen, why are you even commenting on it? Clear context was given. Not to mention how many points were directly related to topics posted on this forum (base speed suggestions, crouch jumping, ss interactions, etc) as implementations for changes. Was there a clear portion of the feedback that was tied to these factors that wasn’t “vague” to you? Surveys can’t be 100% binary. Otherwise they would be stripping mechanics from the game just to appeal to old fans. Instead they want to modify what they have from the beta to become more polished product, ie the purpose of a beta test.

I think the problem is simply that this voting on sprint was only towards a rather small group of players instead of everyone.

Sigh, your missing the point. If you are going to talk about data, talk about the data. Don’t pick and choose which bit of info you want to give out. When given the result of a multiple choice question, you’d think people may want to see the results for answers A, B, C, and D, not just B.
Whether it is intentional or not, giving out just one of them can lead to misunderstandings.
EDIT: The number of people in the survey is not what I am taking issue with. To explain further imagine a poll about the preferred starting weapons for Halo 5(Based on the Beta). The end result may be that the combination with the votes is AR/Pistol, but when looking at the whole poll, more player preferred combinations that included the BR. Saying something along the lines of “More people preferred AR/Pistol starts over any other combination”, is technically true, but it doesn’t it doesn’t represent the reality.
Honestly the specific percentage would have been irrelevant, its the fact that a lone piece of data was left on its own that bothers me.
