Features That NEED to Stay

I am hopeful that Halo 2 Anniversary will release on the 10th anniversary of Halo 2. There are many things that will stay, like the original campaign. There are things though that some people want to be kept in and some not.

I definitely want Super Jumps to be kept in Halo 2 Anniversary. If it is the cheating in Multi-player that people are concerned with, 343 industries could just add a new game type option to enable or disable them, which would then make them okay to have when used in custom games or specific multi-player playlists.

I am also hopeful that easter eggs like the scarab gun will stay.

Please comment and post your opinion.

Button glitches such as the BXR, Quad Shoting or Double Shoting, ect

If they just add a graphics layer on top like they did with CE, then everything you mentioned should still be in.

I hope so.

I didn’t get to play Halo 2 online on my original Xbox, which fried in a power surge several years ago.

I do have a Halo 2 disc that I play on my Xbox 360 every once and a while.

I always loved to do super jumps and it would be awesome if they were turned on in at least one multi-player playlist.

If we bring back Multiplayer I’d rather they get rid of superjumps, and leave them elsewhere like Campaign.

Button combos could stay as long there was a tutorial that taught newer players what they were, that way everyone could learn to perfect them.

343 should keep in Super jumps for Halo 2 Anniversary! If you read one of my previous posts. . . 343 could just add a game type option to enable or disable super jumps in the game type options.

Super Jumps would still be fun to do in custom games because they will most likely be disabled in multi-player.

I do agree with you on those button combos. Players should be given a tutorial to know how to perform those button combos.

Super-bouncing was characterized by the way that your player model interacted with certain geometries of the game and other animation glitches. With a graphics engine overhaul, those things are likely going to be taken out anyway because textures will be all new and updated for HD. Sorry to spoil any fun, but that how I understand those glitches worked with super-bouncing.

If 343 industries does an HD re-skin, the glitches would still work. Bungie purposely coded in these fun glitches for players who want to have fun in another way than just shooting and killing.

This leads me to believe that 343 will still keep the glitches in but also do an HD Re-skin.

In Halo CE Anniversary, 343 coded in extra scenery in the Campaign ONLY, which means that the campaign for Halo 2 Anniversary will probably have extra scenery added in but the multi-player maps will still have their original style with an HD look.

All of the crouching spots for doing Super jumps will stay the same and the spots where you land will stay the same.

If you are thinking that since Headlong from Halo 2, which was redone in Halo Reach, didn’t have Super Jumps, this was because that the map was recreated using the Halo Reach engine, which didn’t have Super Jumps available to be a feature for that map only.

The old Halo 2 engine will still be used but with an added new graphics engine just as Halo CE Anniversary is.

All glitches and super jumps will stay according to what I have stated above.

Please post how you think it will work, if you don’t agree.

No please no do you even realize how easy it is today to get your hands on 3th party script hardware ? Cronusmax hint hint.

I don’t want to see lobby’s or teams with full auto BR’s

Well I don’t think any feature will be removed from the original game. It will probably be just a HD reskin.

It would be nice if it had the netcode and shot registration from halo 4 or Reach, so host doesn’t have such a huge advantage shooting across the map and also to avoid other BS like blood shots and not being able to trade kills with someone when you both get the last shot at the same time. That’s the only change I’d make gameplay wise. I guess added weapons from the other games wouldn’t be so bad. What I don’t want to see is the crap introduced in Reach and Halo 4 like loadouts, sprint, bloom, lazily made maps taken straight from the campaign, etc… Keep Halo unique, don’t try to be COD or anything else, because that certainly didn’t alienate the Halo community the first time with Reach and the second time with H4 did it?..

Button glitches need to stay and be embraced in future Halo games, just as Capcom did with Street Fighter 2’s button glitches, which made “combos” possible. Button glitches certainly add to the skill gap and make the game more competitive, and if you disagree, you obviously haven’t tried to do them or played Halo 2 at a high competitive level, and if you have any other argument against them aside from the assertion that they’re a form of “cheating” (a butt-hurt player’s cop-out), I’d love to hear it.

Additions like theater, spectator mode, forge, etc would be awesome. Clans and the Halo 2 ranking system would be good too.

Also, I just realized the possibility of macro controllers taking advantage of button glitches. I wonder if there’s a way you can detect a macro controller’s behavior… maybe the game could keep track of a button combo’s timing (down to the millisecond), patterns, and success rates and if the timing and patterns are 100% the same 100% of the time while engaging enemies (because people could purposefully mess up the combo while not shooting someone to alter the statistics) then maybe that could be evidence enough for conviction and discipline (i.e being banned or being branded for all to see in lobbies as someone who is very very likely to be using a macro controller).

They’re probably going to bring the Library back from Anniversary. In that case, I dearly hope they don’t make it a Kinect-exclusive feature. That was a bad idea in the first place and everyone knows it.

Bungie didn’t code in super jumps. They are a glitch.

“Super Bouncing is a Halo 2 glitch used by players to jump to incredible heights. The glitch involves the exploitation of terrain flaws and crouching. This glitch is only possible on the Xbox version of Halo 2. It has been removed from the PC version.”

Since the framerate and even the resolution will be different even with just an HD reskin (they will most likely also improve framerate to 60fps or at least close to match the XBone hardware), there will more than likely be no super jumps if an H2 remake happens. Especially since it disappeared in Halo 2 PC already.

What about all the super bouncing fans?

I don’t think that 343 would remove them due to the fact that it would make the super bouncing community disappointed.
