Feature Request: Updated Halo related forum icons
I propose that the boring and bland icon images be replaced with some appropriate halo themed icons.
There are some that would be obvious (Armor lock rejection = thread lock, Stick = Pinned topic, etc), but others are up for suggestions.
I put together an image with my suggestions (off the top of my head), and I think it looks great!
Here is the result
Current Icons and definition:
Pinned topic: Stuck
Locked topic: Rejection
Unread posts: Revenge
No unread posts: Avenger
Moved topic: Killjoy
What are your thoughts? Approve? Strongly disagree?
Feel free to provide suggestions, and if 343 don’t implement the design, I’ll probably write up a script.
Using the stuck medal as an icon wouldn’t be very intuitive, but a clearer image of an active, glowing plasma nade could be an absolutely wonderful replacement for the existing pinned-thread icon.
The rejection medal would work perfectly – Halo-themed, but there’s a lock on it, so no intuitive meaning is lost. Great idea.
The latter three suggestions wouldn’t be particularly intuitive. The medal images and their symbols make little sense in the context of a forum. Revenge for unread posts, for example – there’s no connection between the two.

The revenge : avenger were two similar medals, that was my only justification. This is why I created a discussion thread rather than just posting it in the feedback thread.

I agree that the medals shown may not be as straight forward as they could be. I do love the idea of making the forums a little less sterile looking though. I am not that creative to give alternatives but just wanted to say I would really like some little improvements like this to improve forum’s appearance.
I think the icons are fine. Using the medals would be cool, however they’re not as clean and clear as the icons we have now.
Stuck medal for stickies and Rejection medals for locked topics is brilliant. I don’t really understand the latter three though. I don’t really think that we’d need Halo related symbols for the latter three anyway.
