Simple request - I’d like to be able to disable text chat en masse. For me personally, it’s very distracting in-game, and I simply do not wish to read anything that anyone else is typing. A good 90% of what comes through ends up being demeaning or disparaging, or trash talk, or even hate speech. And most commonly it’s coming from the other team. So the chat log popping up distracts me from the game in-and-of itself, and then it seems that most often, when I read the chat, it’s something that generally makes me feel worse.
I’m making an example of the most extreme cases here, but only to illustrate my point. Also I should note that the text chat covers the scoreboard, and has created some weird moments for me because of that. Example: you’re not sure how close the score is at the end of a KotH game, and so whether you should throw your body into the hill and scrap for a couple of seconds, or whether you should stay out of hill and slay from power positions, becomes unclear, because the score is obscured by the chat log.
Thanks for your consideration - I feel this would be a relatively easy fix (not a programmer) and it would have a huge impact on my quality of life within the game.
