Favourite and least favourite 343-era armour?

So I’m pretty new to H5, I took a long break while I was in college and just recently came back to Halo, and one thing I’ve immediately noticed is there’s a lot of varied opinions about the game’s armour. Now I’m nearly positive a thread like this has been done before, and if it has I’ll kill this one off, but on the off chance it hasn’t be done yet, I ask you all: what is your least favourite 343 era armour, and what is your most favourite? (Keep in mind this is all opinion based, there’s bound to be some armor that people love and other people hate, so lets keep it civil here.)

I’ll start with my two:

Least favourite: Tracer. Can we say Mr Bubbles? This thing looks like a bad big daddy cosplay. None of the skins are particularly appealing. It just looks lumpy and weird in my personal opinion. I commend 343 for trying to make more unique armour but… damn.

Favourite: gen 2 Gungnir. Okay this one is kinda cheating on my part because I’m the ultimate gungnir fanboy, but for me gungnir has always hit the just right amount of weirdness. Now admittedly while I still prefer my gen-1 with the CBRN attachment from reach, gen 2 is more than good enough for me… or it would be if I could bloody unlock it.

Glad to see some fellow Locus fans in here!

Likes:

  • Hunter (Locke’s armour) - Air Assualt (GEN2) - War Master - Scout (GEN2) - Aviator - WarriorHates:

  • Leigionnaire - Cyclops - Nomad - Vector - Seeker - Tracer - VentureUgh! He’s wearing that stupid helmet again.

Achillies armor set is my favorite. cyclos is the worst ever.

My favorite 343 armor would be Atlas for sure.

seeker helmet and the the one that looks like a big ball, all of 343 armors are pretty stupid though tbh.

Favorite? Hellcat.

Can’t say for least favourite, there’s a few.

Favorite: orbital (halo 4 version) Anubis, centurion gen 2, heremes gen 2, argues gen 2, helljumper, copperhead, FOTUS, wrath, indomitable, vigalent, intruder, decamator, noble, goblin and deadeye

least favorite: none so far

Nice to see some love for Hellcat here, really dig that design. My only complaint is I wish it showed off the visor colour a’la Venator, but its a small compromise for such a rad design.

Achilles, Enforcer, and Hellcat are awesome.

Seeker is straight up terrible.

My favorite helmet is Enforcer and my least favorite is Tracer.

I have trouble believing your last sentence lol.

FOTUS is one of my favorites. Sure it has a horn, but it doesn’t really resemble a unicorn IMO.

Favorite-Helljumper
Least Favorite-Legionaire

FOTUS literally means “Fist of the Unicorns”. Not too sure if the “S” means anything.

I know, but the only thing that remotely resembles it is the horn. It’s actually based off a promethean knight. The “s” is to just make unicorn plural.

Favourite:AirAssault
Least Favourite:Heliskrill

Honestly… Air Assault, Soldier, and Warrior are the only good standard" looking Spartan designs that 343 has done, where they look “Halo” enough… They fit the universe’s aesthetic IMO.

I also think Anubis, Helioskrill, and Achilles look good too, but they’d be great as “harder to get” achievement based unlocks, which they were harder to get for the most part anyway… The Bungie designs that have carried over are mostly good… gotta love all the OG armor sets!

But that’s like what 343 needs to do, CONDENSE… get everything down to about 20-25 armor sets. The best of the best, that don’t look outlandish, and leave it at that. And allow for maybe a little more customization within those sets… having literally HUNDREDS of armors in the game, most being separate duplicates of existing armor sets, is just poor design and is so much extra clutter in the game.

If they wanted to go that route, do a more in-depth color editor, and design and “monetize/REQ” applicable skins that can be universal and projected onto all armors. I can imagine that that would be pretty cheap on the budgets, while still raking in considerable cash from the REQ sales…

Then they can use those funds to focus more on developing good, original multiplayer maps.

Honestly, if they had a business model like this and were upfront about it, I wouldn’t have any issue in buying a few REQ packs and throwing them a bone here and there, but when they just keep putting out rehashed garbage… another “same-shade-of-green” visor for the 8th time… why would, or SHOULD, I contribute to a system that’s nothing but a glorified scam?
