There’s zero way I’ll play this Halo like I did the old titles. And not just because I’ve grown and life has gotten busier. I think there’s a lot of lying going on in this community right now in terms of quality. Not saying the game is bad, but it is not great and it’s barely good.
Halo 3, i was top 50 in kills, matches played and XP. Still has the best sandbox of weapons, equipment and most balanced. Ranking was broken tho.

I would say Halo 3’s Campaign and Halo Reach multiplayer are my favorite.
I wish I could play Halo Infinite’s Campaign but the optimization on AMD’s GPUs (RX580) is just so bad that it’s nauseating.
Multiplayer also suffers from the poor performance but not as badly as the campaign. But add desync into the mix, it’s just terrible.
If the performance would be fixed for PC, I would play this game a bit more but there are still numerous issues with the game that just feels a lot lesser compared to the old Halo experience (never played Halo 5 and never will. I stopped at Halo 4 when it came out). But I’m glad that they at least went away from 4/5 style, which is a huge step. Except they misplaced the step with the bad launch. So there is still a long way to go until it is up to old Bungie’s Halo level.
However I’m still eagerly waiting for Forge’s addition, but I do hope they prioritize fixing the desync and performance issues beforehand. But if there’s even more issues after Forge gets added to the game and no fixes for the performance… then it’s just sad at that point.
Speaking purely from a multiplayer standpoint as that’s where most of the longevity comes from, I played a ton of Halo 3 multiplayer, and it’s still easily my favorite Halo experience.
That said, as many others have said, Halo infinite has “Good Bones”. It’s their best game all around, and I can see myself playing a lot more of it than any of 343’s other attempts. If they can fix aim/net code, I’ll stay. Period. That’s my only really big caveat besides vehicle health.
my favorite halo was and is still Halo Reach. primarily because that was the first one i played, so nostalgia. and i do continue to play it a lot on MCC. however, compared to OG reach? yeah, if the servers were still live, i’d play that faaar more.
at least everything is in the game. a complete package for 60. dlc that’s aight. but overall, cheaper and better than infinite. Reach does have issues, yes. but not as many as infinite
My favorite game is Halo 2 and i think halo Infinite will be a strong contender for third or second place.
cause I have to work, i barely scratch the campaign, but so far very good, i feel is like HCE, but yet a hint of reach.
if it was a recipe would be
1 spoon of h2
1 cup of HCE
2 splashes of H5
spread on a flat dough of Reach
let it stew for 6 years, and serve
Halo reach, and no not likely unless a lot is fixed
I too am a huge fan of Halo 3. Even though I’m too damn old for this I can see myself playing Infinite a lot.
I’ll need some more maps that have that “Halo vibe” though.
I don’t generally rank them because I like them all fairly equally. However, Infinite has gained the lead.
